We were thrilled with our experience with Grand Building. Adam, Jason and Alex were all fantastic to work with on a major renovation of our house that included a front and rear addition, renovation of an existing bathroom and adding a new bathroom, custom mill work, hardscaping and a new deck and a number of other significant items. They were responsive to our questions and to changes to the the scope of the project. We are very happy with our "new" house and our friends of families have all been very impressed with how much work was done in a short time frame at a fair price. Highly recommend them.

Grand Building did my front porch last year and I was impressed with their workmanship and professionalism so I my kitchen reno was way overdue and I engaged Grand Building. I couldn't have been more happier with the results. Adam was always there to oversee to ensure everything was done correctly and if there was a miss, he stepped up and took accountability to fix it. Both him and his brother Jason were quick to reply to emails, calls or texts. Everyone they had on their team stepped up .I couldn't have asked for better service. Thank you to Alex and his 2 sons, Jason and Adam are top notch!

Last year, Grand Building fenced and landscaped my backyard, using existing flagstones (at my request) to rebuild the garden path. The yard had been completely destroyed by the construction of a new garage and the removal of several large trees. The new garden is already a delight to see.
This year, they renovated the kitchen, laundry room and powder room, and the results are remarkable.
Jason at Grand Building extended every effort to achieve my wishes for these areas, and the suggestions he made were an invaluable addition.
The workmen who implemented the changes were a pleasure to work with.
I most certainly intend to use Grand Building for the additional work I plan for the future, and recommend them unreservedly.

We retained Grand Building and Contracting to conduct a complete gut/renovation of our semi-detached house. Our house was built in 1929, and had very little work done to it (IE there was no insulation). It was a challenging project, and we interviewed many contractors and design/build companies. Grand stood out right away from the first meeting. They came in, listened to what we wanted, got an idea of our budget and came back to us with a well laid out, itemized budget/plan. Right from the start they took us seriously and understood how important this project was for us. We underpinned the basement (unfinished) and gutted/renovated the main/second floor, which included opening up the floor plan, and moving our staircases. We had never done any kind of serious renovation before and really had no idea what to expect.

We really lucked out with Grand. We dealt with Adam primarily, who guided us through each step of the renovation process in a respectful manner, didn’t talk down to us and explained everything that needed to be done. Extra work was required along the way (which was to be expected given the complexities of the old house especially with the underpinning), and Adam advised us ahead of time what extra work was required, the reasons why, and the costs associated. When they ran into problems (which there were many), Adam always figured out a solution, keeping our needs (and most importantly our budget) in mind. Adam was extremely responsive, upfront and easy to deal with. We never worried about checking up on him or the project, as Adam would keep us up to date and it was evident that work was being completed when we were able to visit the site - we never felt the need to “check up” on them. Their vendors and trades were very friendly and great to deal with as well. Grand was great with our neighbours, which was really important because it was a small site and dealt with any of their issues in a prompt and polite manner. They also established a great relationship with the City Inspector. The project ran longer than anticipated, but again, noting the age of the house and the issues encountered along the way, this was to be expected. Adam did a great job of managing our expectations, keeping us on budget, keeping us informed and helping us when we got stuck making decisions. When Adam wasn’t available, either Jason or Alex were available if we needed them.

Grand Building and Contracting turned our house from a cold, drafty place that was not very functional into a warm, safe (up to code!), and open space that is truly a pleasure to live in. We really lucked out with Grand Building, because as I said, we really didn’t know what we were getting into, and in this case it felt like we were family in that I always felt confident that Grand had our best interests in mind. I can’t recommend them enough and intend to use them again for further projects in the future.

Grand Building and Contracting Ltd., was truly a god-sent to me. I have been planning on completing a complete home renovation/gut job and after speaking with multiple companies and contractors that sought $500,000+ to complete my home renovations, I quickly began to feel that a home renovation would not be in my future, period. I called Grand Building and Contracting Ltd., on a whim and had the pleasure to meet Jason and Alex first.

My home was originally built in 1919, with two additions made in the later years. My house was a challenge. One that Grand Building and Contracting Ltd., worked miracles on. They turned a decaying home into a beautiful piece of work and created the dream home I have been praying for. To put things into context, I embarked on a complete gut job of my semidetached homes in York, Ontario. The house had no installation, windows where the cold air entered freely, floors that cracked with each step I walked on them, etc. The house needed a BIG upgrade.

I want to be clear; I don’t trust contractors and have a difficult time believe what they have to say. My family has had many negative experiences with contractors in the past. So, when I agreed to proceed with Grand Building and Contracting Ltd., I did so with much caution, especially when my project was $100,000+. I am not a trusting individual; boarding on distrust when it comes to trusting people I do not know. Working with Adam, Jason, and Alex, I never felt I was not being heard or that my concerns were not important. They took the time to explain everything. They took the time to ensure I knew what I was getting into.

Although I did work with Jason and Alex, most of my day-to-day interactions about my project were with Adam. All three, from beginning to the end of the project were respectful and did take the time to listen to me. What I most appreciated about Adam was the time he took to inform me of any project changes and/or improvements. If I ever had a question, Adam spent the time explaining the process. When I requested a change to the project, I was given all the information I needed to make an informed decision. Never did I feel I was being forced to make a decision I didn’t want or accept an outcome I didn’t want. In the end, Adam found efficiencies and was able to stretch my funds in ways that provided unexpected improvements to my home.

I have never worked with a company that went beyond the contract and made an effort to add improvements into the project, while staying within budget. I most appreciated the team’s ability to stay within budget. I needed this project to stay within budget. I could not afford any last-minute changes in figures. Adam did a great job in pricing everything and stayed well under this pricing.

My home looks amazing. Better than my expectations. Trust me, if you are looking to work with three individuals who have passion about their work and do go the extra mile to make you happy, then I highly recommend Grand Building and Contracting Ltd. I have informed Adam that he is always more than welcome to showcase my home to anyone thinking of completing a large home renovation and wants to see the before and after in real life. I am very proud of their work and highly recommend Grand Building and Contracting Ltd., to all those who will listen.

I've completed two projects with Grand Building. The first was a complete gut and reno of a house. I was on an exceptionally tight timeline of 10 weeks before I had to move. The day I closed on the new house, they already had trades lined up and my roof was replaced before I even had keys. Adam and Alex had an army of tradespeople on this project and we were able to move as-scheduled. All of the work was high quality and any issues we found were quickly addressed.

We were so happy with how the reno went that 4 months later we had Grand Building back to transform our backyard. The backyard went from being a mud pit to an outdoor oasis complete with pool, hot tub, natural gas fire pit, 3k square feet of interlock, wood fencing, lighting and sprinkler system.

Throughout my time working with Grand Building, I always received frequent and timely communication about what was going on and what was needed from me. I think I talked to Adam on the phone more often than my wife. Of course there were challenges with the projects - pipes in the wall where you don't expect them, underground cables where there shouldn't be, etc. - but in all the cases, Adam and Alex were here, on-site, working through it.

I always found Adam, Alex and Jason to be honest and reasonable. I found them easy and enjoyable to work with and I wouldn't hesitate to do so again. I have since referred them successfully to several friends.

This family-run business goes out of their way to ensure customer satisfaction. Putting in a heated driveway can be a complicated and messy project. Adam, Jason and the team made sure that the process was explained thoroughly, that my neighbours were contacted and they completed this project on time and on budget. We had some electrical breaker overloading issues that took a little longer than anticipated to correct due to the busy schedule of their senior electrician. But Adam stayed on top of it and I was thrilled to wake up to today's storm with a clean and dry driveway...if only they were allowed to do city sidewalks...! Thank you, gentlemen, for a job very well done!

I had my basement bathroom totally renovated by Grand Building and Contracting Limited. Adam from the company managed the complete renovation and his teams were experts in their field. His team provided excellent ideas and their workmanship was exceptional. During the project Adam always contacted me to inform me on the schedule. Adam was very pleasant to deal with. The project was completed in a short time and within budget. I would definitely recommend Adam and his company for any building or renovation project.

This review is for a job that was completed by Grand Building about 3 years ago; I was waiting to see how the work held up before submitting a review. Adam and his father managed the replacement of my front porch with flowerbed, walkway and driveway. The project included interlocking and stonework, and required several trades who were well coordinated by Adam. The heated driveway and walkway required electrical cabling and took a few attempts to get right. Recently, the in-ground lighting needed to be replaced, which Adam and his electrician facilitated for additional cost.

Altogether, this was a big job but the project management was great; Adam was very responsive and would visit the job site regularly to make sure that the work was proceeding as planned. The original quoted price had increased after the project and contract had been signed because of unanticipated increase in the cost of materials; this was my only complaint since the project was well-over budget. Overall, I was happy with the service and I've gotten many complements from neighbours about my driveway.

Jason and Adam at Grand Building did a wonderful job transforming my basement. They put in a bedroom, recroom, bathroom and laundry area in to a relatively small space. The job was large and complicated, as my house is over 100 years old. The foundation was in terrible shape and we needed to replace the center beam. Adam and Jason, along with the Guidance of their Father (in business for many years) were there at every step. They have an excellent team of contractors and trades, all of whom were a pleasure to work with and did a fantastic job. Grand Building ensured that the project ran without pause which is no easy task when working with all of the different trades, contractors, inspectors.....
The job was not without it's hiccups, as big jobs can be, and Adam and Jason and Alex were right there, problem solving and in the case at every turn. They were really great. The job was a little above my budget so I did need to cut some corners in the end. I think that Grand Building is used to working with less stringent budgets, but they did the best they could with that they had.
Interior design is not my strength, Adam provided a good selection of colors and product choices, and when I couldn't decided (because I'm terrible at that) made some really great choices for me. The basement looks really beautiful, bright and fresh, and my kitchen counter top (another project) is gorgeous!!
