I called for a dishwasher cleaning job for an old dishwasher that had a lot of buildup and junk in it and was quoted $98-129 on the phone. Agreed to that and a guy came to my house a couple days later. Right off the bat I noticed some worrying things - he didn't have any tools with him except for a Tupperware container of drill bits and a drill; he didn't have any cleaning products with him; and he didn't seem to know what make my dishwasher was (it said Kenmore right on it but he kept calling it a Whirlpool).
I'm not even kidding when I tell you that I had to provide him with an old toothbrush and some CLR so he could clean the dishwasher. He also asked me for a vaccum cleaner so he could vaccum up all the stuff in the dishwasher but I didn't have one.
In the middle of cleaning he told me that this would cost more. When I pressed him for an estimate he told me he'll let me know at the end but "at least a couple hundred". I kept pressing and telling him what I was quoted on the phone but he wouldn't give me another price.
In the process of cleaning out my dishwasher he dropped something into the motor. When I asked how this will impact the motor he said that it might work itself out or I might have to replace the whole thing, it either way it's NOT HIS RESPONSIBILITY. He put the dishwasher back together and ran it a couple times, it made the worst grinding noise I've heard in a while.
I told him that I want him to get whatever he dropped into the motor out and he refused; said that it's a complicated process and impossible to remove the item from inside. As we were talking he kept changing his story (it went from "I dropped something in" to "it was already in there") and saying he's not responsible. At one point he actually said that I'm imagining things and there's no grinding sound....
Needless to say, I refused to pay him without a WRITTEN WARRANTY for his work. Despite the fact that the website says they have a 3 month warranty on labour, it's NOT TRUE. He wouldn't give me a written warranty and refused to leave my home. The police didn't want to get involved as this is a civil matter so it looks like I'll have to take him to small claims court if anything happens to the motor
Also want to add that I believe he tried to get away with this because I'm a younger girl and was home alone. Beware when using this company!
Mike came out to my house when my dryer stopped working just before Christmas Eve. He diagnosed the problem and due to the holidays the part I needed was on back order... 6 week wait. Mike used his expertise and skill and fixed my dryer that day! I was so thrilled and appreciated his time and effort. Awesome service, awesome company, awesome guy! Call Mike first! I guarantee you he is the best!
Our oven stopped working after we used the self cleaning feature . We unfortunately did not use Home Stars and sourced a competitor who wanted $ 1300 for a full repair which we decided not to proceed with but got stuck with a $320 service call . We then called SUPER Mike who made the repair for under $ 300 . Mike was honest , punctual , experienced and competent .
Please call him FIRST !
When I called I explained it was a 22 yr old maytag dryer, he came out the next day, located the problem and had it fixed within an hour.
I had previously called other places but none would touch the dryer stating it was too old.
I also asked about an electric stove, he was honest letting me know it would cost more to fix then to replace.

I have been dealing with Mike for over 25 years and he is great and I can always count on him to arrive when he says he will and fix the problem. I have had him fix 3 fridges, a stove and my conditioner. I find him to be very honest and generally tries to save you money. Some people unfortunately just expect to pay nothing for a service persons time.
Mike came by to fix my fridge, very professional!!! He was friendly and after I explained what had happened to my fridge, he knew what part was broken and came with the part. He took out the box and put in the new part and it work right the way! He installed it properly and quickly. Great service!
We had a bad experience. He came to replace the fuse in the Hood-top Microwave. The Microwave stopped working within 24 hrs. When we called back he demanded more money and said it was a different problem that would cost 3-4 times the cost. He wouldn’t refund the money. We engaged someone else to fix the MW and were told he put the wrong fuse and an older fuse. When we called back to ask for explanation, he was defiant and said “You ain’t getting back the money”.
Good Luck with your experience, we will never use this guy again.
Mike, with Meadowvale Appliance Service is an exceptional fridge repairman. He knew right away what the problem was and located the leak quickly and repaired it. He made sure he tested the fridge for leaks, replaced the freon, and voila, my fridge was fixed. I highly recommend him and he is a credit to his profession.
