Office Condo

Started a small office renovation job in May 2014. Still not finished. Once, they left the front door wide open overnight! They've taken most of the money. And not finished the job.

Home Renovation, Addition

We hired GTC in October 2013 to do a full kitchen renovation and add a 700 sq foot addition to our split level home. It was supposed to start in January 2014 as that is when GTC said the permits would be in. We moved out of our house January 1st and began renting a condo. They gutted our house with no permits and in March our permit was denied and sent to the committee of adjustments for a minor variance that GTC overlooked. They turned off our water but didn't drain our pipes leading to the pipes freezing which caused flooding in our basement ruining thousands of dollars worth of our stuff. On May 27th 2014 we finally received the building permit. For the next 6 months we dealt with so many issues trying to get our house done. It was a utter nightmare!! We moved home at the end of November even though the house wasn't 100% complete. After living in the home for a couple of weeks we noticed so many problems with the quality of work and contacted GTC to get the issues fixed. They tried to say that there was nothing really wrong with their work and said they would fix any issues that we had in the spring. In February a guest staying at our house noticed leaking water from our eavestrough and we decided to look into our brand new attic to find mold and soaking wet wood sheathing. GTC sent their roofing guy a couple days later. He said we just needed 2 fans and more insulation. At that point we decided to call in Holmes on Homes inspections to do a full home inspection and they found a ton of issues with our house that GTC is responsible for and supposed to fix considering they gave us a 5 year warranty with their job. We phoned the owner Sam 2 weeks ago and he said that he would discuss our inspection report with his team and get back to us with the course of action that they planned on taking to fix all of our issues. We haven't heard from him since and have left several messages via email and voicemail. We drove out to their office this morning to find out that they closed in the middle of the night 2 weeks ago and have claimed bankruptcy.

It will cost us a lot to fix everything and they should be responsible for paying to fix their mistakes.

If anyone wants to contact me and my husband please feel free to email us at mrmaynard75@hotmail.com

We will be attending the Bankruptcy hearing scheduled for March 17th according to what we read on Kyle's review. I encourage everyone that GTC screwed over to attend this hearing.

basement apartment

I signed a contract with gtc in January of this year. I paid them 23000 up front for the project. The project was going to cost approximately 80000. I have demo'd the basement, and have debris all over the basement area. Gtc was supposed to supply me with a bin to clean up the debris as per our contract. Approximately 2 weeks ago gtc sent a contractor for a walk through of my house to assess the project and we're supposed to get back to me once they got the permits, still haven't heard back. Today I got a letter in the mail stating they gave gone bankrupt and the court date is March 17th at 330pm at the office of 4580 Dufferin St suite 400 in Toronto, Ontario. Hope this helps. Gtc you suck.

GTC where are you?

To Mike who asked where they've gone--I'm also a client of GTC. We heard last week (after we called to see what was going on with our project) that they "might" close, and now it looks like they have. Whether that means bankrupt I don't know. It would appear that GTC has run off with some of my money, but fortunately we're almost at the end of our whole house reno. I know others haven't seen so lucky

Bathroom and Laundry Room

I would like to let everyone know that I hired Greater Toronto Contractors last year May for a project that was supposed to take 8 weeks and it is still not completed. They are quick in asking for money but not quick in getting the work done.
Now they have closed up shop and I guess I will have to hire my own contractor to finish the job as well as hope that no on puts a lien on my house!!

Assisted Review

An assisted review is collected by a contractor on behalf of the homeowner after their work is completed. The homeowner must confirm the text of the review and may make any changes she or he deems appropriate. The homeowner then assigns the contractor a review score out of 10. Assisted reviews receive the same scrutiny as other reviews and must follow our review guidelines.

I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank GTC and Adam for his great help and support throughout our project. Your professional and always positive attitude made a huge difference and contributed a lot to the overall success of our project. Once again, big thanks for everything.

Kitchen Renovation Design

UPDATE: After posting a review regarding a lack of responsiveness issue I had, I have been contacted by the owner who has bent over backward to make everything right, and I am currently dealing directly with him.

UPDATE 2:
I thought I was making some progress but never received the plans that I requested. I contracted with another company who is doing a much better job! After reading others' reviews I am so glad I never contracted with this company.
