Last summer we hired ELP Designs to oversee the full renovation of our kitchen. Unfortunately the general contractor recommended to us by ELP provided inferior work and the individuals that came in to do our plumbing, electrical and flooring were to say the least incompetent. Our floor tiles began moving, the grout cracking and we’ve been told it’s our problem which comes to the tune of $7000 to fix it. Considering this total job cost over $60k the quality of the Reno, mainly plumbing, electrical, backsplash and flooring isn’t there. If you truly want someone who will bring in a quality general contractor and someone who really stands up for his clients, go elsewhere.

The client indicates that the total job cost over $60,000 and from that amount: appliances were roughly $20,000, and after weeks of price comparison’s, they purchased from a supplier that we recommended and saved $1,000’s compared to all other stores, they even received a complimentary Kitchen-Aide mixer (value $500). Also included in the $60,000 was a 100% custom made kitchen also from a supplier that we recommended and that clients were thrilled with. As well, they were well aware that they saved a minimum of 25% compared to other quality suppliers. The floor tiles and plumbing fixtures were also from wholesale suppliers we recommended.
The client was not required to use any trade we referred and had full opportunity to select the contractor of their choice. In the 1st line of the client’s review, they mention that they hired E.L.P. Designs to be the project manager, however in two different places of the contract the client reviewed and signed it clearly states: ‘E.L.P. Designs is strictly involved with design services, the client agrees that all the contractor and trade services used for this renovation project will be solely responsible between the client and independent contractor’.
