We had Land Effects do a complete renovation on a 30+ years old pool and deck. The project included the reconstruction of a multilevel deck (which cantilevers over a ravine) in stone and composite decking, relocation of the pool equipment and construction of a shed for the equipment plus storage, design and construction of a pool water feature and placement and installation of exterior lighting and drainage systems. Keith also recommended the additional tradesmen that were required (pool service, pool marbelite, electrician and gas) and coordinated them throughout the construction period.

We had a very general idea of what we wanted. Keith understood us exactly, told us the best ways to get them done plus recommended a number of creative design ideas that were excellent and that we incorporated. He discussed with us our options for design and material and made knowledgeable and well thought out recommendations.

From beginning to end Keith kept us constantly informed of the progress as well as the cost. He copied us on all expenses and gave us weekly updates of the ongoing budget.

I can't say enough about the quality of the work. It is outstanding. Bob, Roman, Chris, Mike and the others were detailed, careful and highly professional. Any changes due to unforeseen problems were well thought out and thoroughly discussed with us. Their attention to detail was exceptional, We were completely comfortable through out the construction that it would be done right and that no shortcuts would be taken. As well, all the subcontractors that Keith recommended were excellent and dependable.

This was a major renovation for us. It took over 9 weeks during one of Toronto's hottest summers to complete. The guys worked full out till the job was done and Keith was present throughout.

I would not hesitate to recommend Keith and Land Effects for any job and would gladly hire them again for future work. They were a pleasure to work with.

Keith and his staff were a pleasure to work with. This project had a few delays (permits etc) beyond thier control but Keith and his staff were always very accommodating. We were very happy with his design as well as the quality and workmanship that his staff exhibited on a daily basis. We would definitely recommend Land Effects Outdoor Living Spaces for any outdoor renovation you may have and again would like to thank Keith and his staff for a wonderful design and renovation project. Our backyard has been turned into an outdoor Oasis with a very Zen feel to it.

We hired Land Effects to complete our backyard renovation. Overall we were very pleased with the project, which we could sum up in one word “transformative”. We had previously built out a stone patio and a water feature and Keith was able to develop a cohesive plan which integrated these features and made the remainder of the back yard usable. Although we approached Keith late in the winter, he was able to accommodate us in his schedule. Keith was very much present throughout the process, and was very responsive to messages. While there were some budgetary issues, we were able to work out acceptable alternatives. The quality of the work was excellent and our backyard is the envy of all who see it.

My family and I would like to thank Keith and his team for helping us build our backyard "Cottage in the City". Our goal was to build a backyard where we could escape and entertain without having to spend hours of travel time. This was a large scale project that had many permitting and zoning requirements and included significant excavation. The end result of Keith's work is spectacular. We added a pool, hot tub, pergola covered seating area, new perimeter fence, feature trees and lighting, along with a feature wall with a built-in TV. Keith was very professional and totally hands on during the entire project. There was a great respect and sense of teamwork between contractor and client. We continuously bounced ideas of each other looking for the right outcome and effect. Keith is extremely creative and is able to visualize designs and incorporate them effectively into the project. There were also no surprises with respect to costs and budget. The project budget was decided upon at the outset and any additional costs were identified and discussed upfront. As for his team, they are extremely professional and highly skilled craftsmen. Their stonework and woodwork was outstanding. They were also very hardworking and respectful of my family and my neighbours. This was a large scale job and they ensured that the job site was cleaned-up and well secured each night before they left. The project overall was well planned out and was completed in a reasonable timeframe. My family and I are thrilled with the job Keith and his team has done with our backyard and would happily refer him to others. It's great to see a contractor taking on such pride in his work, watching a project come together. I look forward to working with Keith and his team again to re-design our front yard.

We interviewed four landscape companies before we chose Land Effects. Keith and his team were extremely professional and listened to our ideas. Keith was very patient and designed a complete overhaul of our backyard. The design made great use of the space and the quality of the finished product was amazing. We transformed a backyard to an oasis with an outdoor bar and gas fireplace. We now consider our backyard as another room in the house. We think so highly of Keith and his team that we continue to recommend him to our friends and neighbours and we have also asked Keith to do the front yard in the spring.

The project involved moving a garden shed to the back of the property, building a 2 level deck and transferring the previous interlock into a new layout/walkway. The team also enclosed the backyard so it has become more private and contained.

2. Keith brought ideas and took me outside my comfort zone to design something I could not have envisioned myself
3. He was flexible in recommending alternatives to keep prices in line.
4. His team was organised, cleaned up every day and were consideration of neighbours.
5. Keith managed expectations along the way - from timelines, pricing, and what to expect on the job site.
6. Keith gave good ideas and always considered both practicality/functionality as well as design and look.

Keith and his crew have done 2 projects for us. In 2012 he did a complete redo of our front walkway including raised planter beds, interlock, lighting and irrigation. We were so pleased with the results that we had Land Effects back to complete a much larger project in our back yard.
The backyard project included obtaining a permit for city tree removal and obtaining permission from the city to access the park behind our house to in order to bring in large machines. As our west neighbours yard is much higher than ours, there was major grading and retaining issues with our project. Tons of armour stone and interlock were brought in through the park. Keith also redid our upper deck to make it more usable and created stairs for access into the yard below. In addition to the fiberglass pool, Keith designed a water feature that is truly spectacular. Keith had estimated a 2-3 month window for completion of this project and despite a very wet spring, he completed the job on time. Keith and his crew were reliable and punctual during the entire project. They cleaned up the site at the end of each day and made sure the park behind our house was repaired once the project was completed. They were very mindful of our close proximity to our neighbours – one of which worked from home and the other on maternity leave with her first baby. Both neighbours told us that the work being done was not disruptive to their lives. In fact, one neighbour wrote Keith a letter thanking him for being such a conscientious contractor. Due to budgetary constraints, we had to compromise on some aspects of the project, but Keith was good at coming up with alternatives that still made the end result spectacular. We decided to do the landscape lighting and most of the plantings ourselves to save money.
Only the highest quality materials were used and we are very happy with the results. Keith may not be the least expensive quote you obtain, but you will be very happy with the quality of work and timeliness of completion. We just love our backyard space now!

We can’t recommend Keith and his crew enough. What started with us initially wanting to re-do our front walk and dig a new garden bed turned into a full landscaping project guided by Keith’s vision for our yard. He was up front and honest about the cost, his quote and design were very detailed, he made several suggestions that we hadn’t considered (the armour stone looks incredible!) and he worked closely with us to ensure things like the plants he chose matched our taste. For a number of years I have wanted to do something with the front yard of my East York semi-detached home. I'm a very handy guy and usually do home projects myself, but when it comes to gardens and landscaping, I don't feel like I have good design sense, and the thought of days worth of digging, laying stone and planting (just to likely kill them shortly afterward) didn't appeal to me. We heard about Land Effects through HomeStars - my wife called the top 3 rated places for our area, and two decided to quote. The other guy came and suggested a generic retaining wall and basic pathway, said he was going to call us back with a quote, and we never heard from him again. Keith showed up from Land Effects, and had some creative ideas right from the start - like moving the stairway to the center of the lot to provide space for planting on both sides, and make the lot look wider. He was friendly, professional and confident, and shared some excellent ideas. We paid him to do a formal plan, which he delivered to us promptly - we were so excited by the design, we gave him the go-ahead on the spot. Fast forward to a couple of weeks later, his crew showed up right on time every day. They were courteous, professional, worked throughout the day and cleaned up perfectly at the end of each day. The final result is astounding - the workmanship is top-notch and everyone on the street is ecstatic with how great the yard looks. I even get complete strangers knocking on my door asking me where I got the design and build done. I am very impressed with Keith and his team, and wholeheartedly recommend Land Effects if you want "the best" when it comes to both design and build.
