Home Renovations

I recently hired Jeremy to do some family room renovations. This consisted of framing, dry wall installation, electrical and painting. Unfortunately my experience with Jeremy was frustrating and very stressful.

PRO’S
Jeremy is an excellent painter. Pot light measurements were accurate and precise. Drywall installation was completed with a nice smooth finish.

CON’S
Jeremy openly admits on his website that his fees are indeed higher than most contractors to which I strongly agree. I believe that renovations can sometimes lead to more renovations and can often become like a “domino effect”. Jeremy is extremely over priced, I felt that he was “nickel-and-diming” me and unfairly charged me for minor services. Jeremy does not outline the cost of his materials on his quote, nor does he provide a detailed break down of his pricing. I was extremely disappointed with the poor quality materials that he purchased for me (pot lights and dimmer switch)

I’m a single mom and I have no knowledge or experience with home renovations, and like most people, I found this process to be overwhelming. I had questions and concerns which were at times answered with arrogance. On 2 separate occasions, Jeremy was condescending, rude and very disrespectful and I was appalled with the lack of professionalism.

I believe there are more highly professional and quality minded contractors out there with positive attitudes, who will be able to meet all of your home improvement needs without breaking your bank account.

I do not intend on hiring Jeremy again in the future. I wish him much success.

Approximate cost of services:
$3,500.00

Company Response

Hello All
As we all know there are 2 sides to every story. Gloria and I have conducted business before in the past and it’s safe to say that we were closer than your average client and contractor relationship. She clearly wanted my services and craftsmanship or she wouldn’t have hired me in the first place. She even stated during the project that she knows that I am more expensive than some but would rather spend the extra money to have the job done right. She also told me that she has insecurities with contractors since one of her ex-friends took off and didn’t finish a job. She states in her review that she has no knowledge or expertise of home renovations but she apparently knows what quality building materials are and the cost to completing a custom installation. All the products used were great quality and purchased from big box stores like Home Depot or from an online seller with a great reputation and excellent customer product reviews. Gloria was provided the original quote prior to starting and was in full control of accepting or declining my services. She expressed in her review that she felt like I was “nickel and diming” her but she also knew that all additional work over and above the original quote would come with extra costs. All the extra work that was requested by Gloria after the project had started was quoted and approved by her prior to commencing. Again, she had full control to decline the work if money was an issue. The final product that she received was top quality which Gloria expressed before I left saying “I did excellent work and it looks amazing”. Now her reasons for saying I am condescending, rude, disrespectable and unprofessional were not warranted at all. I NEVER expressed any of those traits with her. Any of my clients who have worked with me knows that I am very kind, respectful and professional. Just look at all my reviews…all positive. I even was kind enough to take her purged household items to the city landfill and to donation at no cost because I have a pickup. Not to mentioned I did extra work for her at no cost when they decide that they did not like the TV bracket that they provide me to install. I removed it and installed a completely different one. Not much but still time out of my work day. I did however call her out on the fact that she would ask same questions over and over and over again but never listing to my answers. Her own adult daughter called her out on it. She even requested me to stop her if I see her doing it. Not only that, on the final day she got angry at me for not being happy enough when I arrived in the morning. She even said to me one afternoon “since we were pretty much friends can I get your honest opinion on something….what do you see is a problem with my personality”. Well, let’s just say that I think her review is an attack on my personal opinion and not on our business transaction. I was open and honest with her regarding all aspects of the project but she chose to not listen and just assume her own fabricated scenarios. In the end Gloria received exactly what she paid for, top quality craftsmanship on a job well done. It is sad because I really did see her as a friend. How people can turn.
