Project included new basement, new kitchen, new bathrooms, new floors, new walls, structural work, load bearing walls removed, electrical upgrades, new outdoor deck, add patio doors, and many other upgrades. We were extremely pleased with John and his skillful employees - they were polite, listened to our needs and adapted plans to suit, came in on budget and on time. John was a great, honest guy, easy to talk too and good to his word - we missed him when the job was done! We recommended him to our neighbour and she has now hired him as well.

OMG you should see my kitchen!!! I wanted to update the look in my 15 year old home - tear down a wall, redo the kitchen, etc. John and his team were fantastic! I was worried as it was a supporting wall that was being removed. Attention to detail included ensuring the new construction matched the existing. The team covered all my existing areas, including putting up plastic walls to protect the other rooms. Team was on time, and even if the requirement for the day was small, they were there, to ensure the kitchen or the granite guys could stay on schedule too. Love love love love their work. The end result is so fantastic. Can't wait to hire JConstruction again - my bathroom needs a facelift too!

John and his team designed and finished a substantial part of our basement. They did quality work, were reliable and the job was started and completed on time. John was on-site everyday to both supervise and participate himself. The work-site was cleaned at the each day. All members of the team were competent, personable and professional. My husband and I purchased our dream home. We loved our home but wanted to make some changes (e.g., add a large window to the living room, add a bedroom and storage room in the basement as well as extend the master bedroom closet). We also wanted to make the detached garage something to brag about. Unfortunately, during the renovations we became aware of some serious problems on. I understood the problems to be serious although, I was comforted knowing that John and his team would fix that problems properly. I took comfort in knowing that they found it in time and that it would be done properly and not rushed. In a time that was extremely stressful for my husband and I John was able to comfort us with explanations of what needed to be done and I knew he would do it properly. As the problem was being fixed John called me into view the progress, I walked into the kitchen I pushed back the tears of relief. John and his skilled team were able to produce exactly what we asked for. They were able to make suggestions that added to the end product and fix serious problems that were found. I cannot express my gratitude in words. He has help make our home beautiful and more importantly safe for our family to enjoy.

Great company and team! They did a very good job of renovating and upgrading our basement after July 2013 flooding. They were very quick finishing work within timeline given - they left the worksite very clean everyday. Communication was great and you could reach John ant time you needed him during the day. The entire team did a great job and they even came back after furniture was delivered to attached our handrail for the stairs because we had very narrow staircase! We had our basement and bathroom renovated in March 2014. As with all home owners, (and this also being our first major renovation) we were weary of the contractors out there as we have heard all about the bad experiences others have had. We relied heavily on HomeStars’ reviews to find us the right contractor. We shortlisted 4 contractors (all from HomeStars) to give us a quote and here are a few reasons why we chose JConstruction and Renovations for our project.

Quote – It was the best price based on work involved. You will notice that each contractor has different expectations on what they will and will not do within their quote.

Customer Service – Excellent! From the get go, John was quick to get back to us on our inquiry. In fact when I sent him an email requesting a quote, I got a call from John right away. He was upfront with me as to when he was able to take on another project. As we were not in a rush, we were willing to wait to work within his time frame. Quote was December 2013, work started in March 2014.

John is a” hands on” contractor. He worked with his crew every day. He is part of the team! We were pleasantly surprise that he was there working with his team every day when they were here.

Work Ethics – Awesome! John and his core crew (Anna and Brandon) made a great team. They work well, took pride in their work. They were punctual, hard working, and diligent. Always making sure that the work area is kept clean every day. Even at demolition stage they will cart the bin away every day. It is very consistent to all the positive reviews they had on HomeStars.

Communication – Excellent! If there were any concerns, John is always reachable and assessable when he is working on the project. Because he is on site every day, pretty much nothing is lost in translation/interpretation.

Ease of working – Great! You will find that John, not only is he knowledgeable, he is amiable. He made our renovation experience as stress free as possible.

Going above – Kudos! The major renovation went smoothly and as planned, it took them 4 weeks in total to complete the basement and washroom. We had a major delay on the vanity for the washroom, because of quality control issues with the supplier, and even though it was not John’s responsibility to follow up on the delay, John personally took it upon himself to go the extra mile with the store (we bought it from a big box store) on our behalf! Again a big thank you on this one, John!

Results – Amazing! Basement and washroom came out great and as what we had envisioned. It was also on budget as to what he originally quoted. We had certain upgrades that we wanted to get along the way and we knew that would be additional cost at our end.

Overall, we could not have been more pleased to have chosen JConstruction and Renovations to work with us on our project. If you are like us, no experience with dealing with a contractor and want to deal with someone that you can depend on and trust, at least have John from JConstruction and Renovations on your shortlist to consider and you will definitely notice the difference!
