We recently purchased a coupon from Groupon for an eavestrough cleaning by Home Pro Exteriors. The cost was around $39 plus tax, which is, of course, very reasonable.
We scheduled an appointment with Home Pro without any problems. The Home Pro representative who attended our house to perform the cleaning advised us that there were some problems with our roof including missing shingles, branches on the roof, and a wasps nest on the roof. He offered to fix these problems for an additional $250 plus tax. We assumed that the $250 price reflected the fact that a significant amount of work was needed.
To our surprise, the Home Pro representative completed all of the work, including the eavstrough cleaning in about an hour. We felt a little ripped off paying almost $300 plus tax for an hour of work -- especially when Home Pro's travel time to and from our home was included in the initial $39 that we paid.
We contacted Home Pro afterwards and expressed our concern about the amount that we were charged. We were told that this amount reflected Home Pro's' standard prices, and that the spray they use on wasps nests is expensive. We did not press the issue, as we do not know what the going rate is for this type of work. Although $300 for an hour of work seems like a lot, I suppose it is possible that it is normal in the industry.
I have since noticed at least two large sections of our eavestroughs were not cleaned and in fact remained completely clogged. I worry that there are further areas that were missed, as I am only able to see a small part of the roof (I would have to go up on the roof to see the rest of it).
I ended up cleaning most of the missed spots on the eavestroughs on my own (the missed spots that I could see were mainly on our lower eavestroughs, which could reach with a step-ladder).
In light of the fact that the eavestroughs were not sufficiently cleaned properly, and the price seems steep (although again, I do not know what the going rate is), I cannot recommend this company.
