We recently had our basement renovated (April 2016) and chose ISM RenoBuilders LTD (finished.basements.ca) to do the job. We made the right choice. The whole process could not have gone any better, from the initial meetings with Vitaliy to discuss project scope, options and costs, to finalizing project design with Igor, to choosing colors and finishing materials with Natalie, and last but most importantly, the very skillful tradesman (the structural crew – framing, drywall, tile, flooring installation, painting, the plumbing and the electrical crews). The final result was a beautiful renovation that included a bright laundry room, a large 3 piece bathroom and a very comfortable family/ TV room. All done expertly and on time as promised.

We went from being skeptical in the beginning about whether a basement can be completed in 2 weeks, to being converted believers! Finished Basement.ca delivered on its promise without sacrificing in quality or workmanship. The review we are giving is an account of the "cradle to grave" process through which we experienced in our basement renovation project, which we can honestly say surpassed our expectations and left a permanent smile on our faces when completed.
INITIAL QUOTE PROCESS- Vitaliy visited us at our home. He was on time for our quote. He provided well thought out suggestions and ideas for our basement renovation as well as any drawbacks to ideas we had. His expertise and honesty was a breath of fresh air that we did not experience with other contractors who bid for our project. He provided us a quote and also mentioned ares that may potentially increase the cost.
PRICING & CONTRACT- Vitality sat down with us and went through the detailed pricing and contract with us and answered all our questions. Have this pricing contract with all the related costs of services was useful as a reference guide as my wife and I used it to determine whether additional work would be within our budget or not.
DESIGN & MEASUREMENTS- Igor visited us at our home to map out our basement design and layout. He is a wonderfully skilled and personable individual. He provided further suggestions and ideas that were much appreciated.
MATERIAL SELECTION- We met with Natalie at the Finished Basement.ca office. What can we say about her, other than having a great eye and ability to articulate design colors and materials to fit our wants was second to none. Her suggestions were spot on and her professionalism was very much appreciated.
PLUMBING WORK- Uriy came to our home to start the plumbing rough ins for our washroom and kitchen. What a pleasure to have this plumbing expert work on our basement. His workmanship was impecable, neat and you could tell he completed the work as if it were his own home.
ELECTRICIAN- Met with Igor and he took us through step by step the electrical components and work to be completed. We were satisfied with this process.
FRAMING & DRYWALL TEAM- Vladimr and his crew were amazing! The amount of work they completed and the quality was unbelievable. You honestly could tell these professionals took pride in their work and it showed. They were very respectful of our property and us and conducted themselves in that manner.
TAPING DRYWALL- Alex was the professional who taped and sanded our drywall! What else can I say. The skill he has in the work he does was unbelievable. I feel as though a major component of a good quality basement is the type of taping work done on the drywall. Alex did not disappoint. He worked long hours to ensure our job was done in the time allotted and workmanship was not sacrificed one bit.
FINISHING TEAM- Vitaliy and his team exceeded every expectation my wife and I had. When we saw the finished product of our completed basement our jaws were on the ground. Again another work team that impressed us in their skills, workmanship and work ethic.

Needless to say we were thoroughly pleased with Finished basement.ca once our basement was completed. If you are looking for promises to be kept, a consistent work ethic, professionalism and skill level across all work teams and a quality finished basement, you need look no further than this company.

Every person that works for this company from the office to the tradesmen were incredibly polite and knowledgeable. The job was completed within 3 weeks, was cleaned daily and the work was done without deficiency. I could go on and on about how happy we were that we chose Finished Basement.ca but there is just not enough room in this review to tell the whole story. Stop shopping and call them, you will not be disappointed!

We researched many firms who specialize in finishing basements and after many quotes, discussions, and checking references, we decided to go with Vitaliy and his team. The company was very upfront about the costs involved with the work and it was great that they had a design center where we could choose our finishes. Natalie was a fantastic adviser in this area! The work started exactly when they told us it would, a pleasant surprise. We were skeptical about them finishing the basement in two weeks but they did it and we were so impressed with the quality of the workmanship for each of the trades. They also cleaned up every night and were willing to discuss any questions or concerns along the way. We would definitely recommend them to friends and family. We absolutely love the basement!

The work was okay, be prepared to pay way more than you were quoted. They were fast and efficient but that meant lack of attention to detail. The crew were nice.

Igor helped to capture all our ideas and Natalie gave me insight into design that I had never considered, but absolutely needed to ensure our family space was a place where we would spend hours and hours of our time. We were very impressed with every encounter we had before meeting our contractors, but were still a little nervous as it is a huge expense and a giant leap of faith. All my nerves were settled after meeting the FB contracting team.
This is where I could truly weep. Tears of joy! This team is filled with THE most talented, professional and likeable people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting or working with. The whole experience just blows our mind. Every detail and every where their hands touched, feels like they were not only doing their best job for us, but their best job for themselves. The atmosphere anytime you entered the project area was full of laughter and at times singing.
Any project of this nature however is going to have a hiccup or two, but it's all in the way it is managed. Every member of this team gave piece of mind and assurance that it would be completed to our expectations, with accountability and genuine word of apology, and in the end they very effectively exceeded all our expectations.
From the beginning to the end, this is a family endeavour; and for the duration of the project and even beyond, we feel a part of their family and to me this has completely ensured that the family space we had envisioned in the beginning is far more than we could have imagined, as it was delivered in impressive time filled with every beautiful detail and so much love. Can't say enough about their work. Everything was completed in 12 days. They arrived everyday on time and always made sure they cleaned up the area before they left. Any changes we requested were done without any hassle. Their pricing was straight forward and breaks down line by line each item and cost associated with it and their showroom has a extensive selection of products to choose from. My wife and I were hesitant at first because we were not sure about the quality of work we would get if the reno only took 2 weeks as other contractors we interviewed all said it would take roughly 5-8 weeks to complete. But I assure you that their attention to detail is outstanding. They DON'T take shortcuts and use high quality materials as well as follow building codes/ESA standards. We highly recommend them.

I was amazed with the speed and the coordination your guys showed. Really good work from estimate to finishing. I was also positively surprised by the transparency of the contract.

I need to mention that it will probably be a good idea to advise that some of the decisions that we make on the go will alter the cost. I had a couple of them, not major, but something to consider in the future. Overall a great work.

When you are in the market for renovating your basement, finishedbasement.ca are the benchmark you should compare your contractor to. We found them via a referral and were able to get an initial consult within days. Igor and Vitaly helped us with the design and made amazing recommendations which made the process very easy. they also teamed up with a company to remove some low and annoying hvac bulkheads which was the best choice I made!

Once the process started the entire operation was a well oiled operation first 2 days came plumbing the next came a 7 man team for 4 days to frame, electrical and structure, next 4 days was dry wall and taping and the next for 4 days was finishing and trim .... 14 days and the basement was completed, every request to change something was accommodated and the workers were all professional and courteous.

The materials they used were high quality and very practical for basement, the prices of their stuff was comparable to something at Home Depot, so for convenience we stuck to most of the standard fixtures offered which was still high quality.

No doubt the price of finishedbasement.ca is higher than your normal basement guy but the work is guaranteed and if you want to start using your basement in 14 days then the savings in time, energy and inconvenience of having contractors in your basement over a period of months is worth every penny.

The only problem we found was that they moved too fast, if you are not around and monitoring and making tweaks then you lose the value since before you have a chance to make an adjustment it's too late and drywall is up! So before starting, make sure you talk to Vitaly or the crew leader about every smallest desire so the can accommodate in the best way.

If I could hire finishedbasements.ca for all my contracting needs I would, they have become the standard I compare all tradesmen to and will not hesitate to call them if I move house in the future
