After deciding to renovate my unfinished basement, I did an extensive search on contractors and had narrowed my search down to four companies. I invited all four companies to come in and provide an estimate. When Joe from Summit Renovations arrived, my wife and I were very impressed with his attention to detail and thoughtful suggestions. He spent an hour and a half looking around and discussing our needs. Although Summit's quote was not the least expensive, it was by far the most reflective of what we wanted. Before deciding, I called two of Joe’s previous customers and they spoke highly of Summit’s quality of work, work ethic, and cleanliness. That was the confirmation I needed to make my decision to go with Summit.

Joe and Mickey did a great job and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. They showed up for work on time and cleaned up every night. Joe always made sure that we were happy with their progress and was always open to our requests. Often, we would ask him and Mickey for ideas because they had so much experience to draw from.

I never knew how important it was to have a site for reviewing contractors until this past month. Not being from the Hamilton area originally I didn't know any contractors or have friends who could recommend someone. I went on Homestars and reviewed a number of contractors. I received estimates from four in total. Joe from the start was very serious and work oriented. I read his reviews and ended up selecting Joe to do my work. He was very reasonably priced. He was not the lowest nor the highest of the four estimates; however, I had to appreciate his European background (being European) and knowing their hard work mentality and good work ethic. Joe did my whole basement. Bathroom, bedroom, living area and kitchen as this is for an in-law suite he created. He was always professional and clean. His work is very meticulous and you can tell he takes pride in his work. I would 100% recommend Joe to anyone. I will be posting pictures shortly to show what great work he had done. I had a timeline of it being completed in four weeks and he was completed three days early (not to mention I had added more to the project). Joe always made great recommendations where I was stuck on a decision and he always did whatever I wanted and made me happy. If anyone wants to call or see my place I would be more than happy to show as I cannot say enough about how happy I am with the work.

To start with, Joe did all the big things right. He showed up and worked when he said he would, he was always clean and considerate, and he used his initial quote as the final bill - no padding or mysterious charges when the work was done.

But it's the little things that really impressed me. Joe and his team are great problem solvers, and that's hugely important when renovating older houses. Joe was never fazed when I asked him to do something out of the ordinary (like build a curved bulkhead) or install something we hadn't flagged earlier. He never made me feel stupid or unwelcome for asking a question or involving myself in the reno.

We'll be shifting our focus to the old kitchen and bathroom soon, and there's no question in my mind that Joe and his team will be the first ones we call. Good luck with your renos and projects, everyone!

As a growing family we needed basement to be done exactly how we plan to use it. The best part about working with Summit Renovations is that you we were encouraged to think design decisions through and Joze offered his ideas based on his experience and our needs. He offered all the pros and cons for various options and we think we received the best value for the money. Best part is the service after the work was completed to resolve any questions. Joe build us a beautiful and bright basement. He also replaced our tiny basement bathroom with a huge one. He took lots of time to answer all my questions along the way, always cleaned up the work site in the end of the day and was extremely pleasant to work with. We will definitely use him again.
