Knocking Pipes

After a successful resolve with Anta I've removed my negative review. I've left the rating at 3 from zero, mainly because it shouldn't have taken a negative review to receive a response. I wish more companies would address customers concerns when they call, instead of waiting until they need to respond to Social Media. But as a consumer, thank God for social media. I declined their offer of a refund, and instead asked that the plumber return and resolve the issue, at no charge. Which he did.

Company Response

Hi Barb! Thank you for sharing your experience, water hammering is little complicated issue than just fixing the plumbing leak or installation. Hammering can be caused by couple different points and not always possible to find the problem right away. Sorry for not getting back to you, I was not aware of this situation, and if you can accept our apology and would like to have refund just give us a call or send email to info@antaplumbing .com , Tanya K - project manager

Knocking Pipes - Buyer Beware

I feel completely taken advantage of by this company. I called them to deal with an issue I was having with knocking pipes. The plumber arrived and told me it would be $280.00 to investigate the issue and that he would have to tear open many walls, which he was not responsible for then repairing. I felt the amount was high, but knowing it was an unknown, I somewhat understood it would take a lot of time to resolve. As soon as I accepted the 280, he went right to the wall behind my shower, cut it open, and told me the cartridge on the heat control needed to be changed. He told me I would have to find the cartridge and have him back. When I asked him if his return visit would be covered under the 280 he said no. I told him, “ but you’ve only been here 20 minutes for 280 dollars” He said he could have not told me the truth, looked at a bunch of other things, but he saved me having my wall cut open all over the place. As well, he said the cartridge may not fix the issue, and I would then have to pay another 280 to continue to investigate. In my opinion, he knew before the “investigative” fee was discussed, what the issue was. And if employees of this company normally twist the truth to earn more dollars, it is not a company you want to hire. As well, if it truly is “investigative”, then should the cartridge replacement not fix the issue, continued investigation should be included in the original 280, particularly when they only spent 20 minutes. I called the company immediately to express my concerns, and the woman on the phone told me there was nothing done wrong, and the best she could do was have me talk to the plumber to negotiate a better rate for his return visit. I asked her at that point if their plumbers were sub contractors, and she said no, employees, so I then asked why I should have to negotiate with their employees, I hired the company, not the employee. She advised the office manager would call me, and to no surprise, no one called me back. I now have to find another plumber to install the cartridge, and higher a handyman to fix the wall. This is going to end up well over $600.00. Buyer beware.
