kitchen appliances

Beware of warranty-i paid for 4 appliances & they registered two of lower prices, warranty was not honored by them.Make sure you get a confirmation from the warranty company before you pay your bill in full. They even sold me a demo instead of new I had originally paid for. They even changed the invoice date so that LG would cover the first year warranty.

Kitchenaid Stainless Steel French Door Fridge, Dual Fuel Double Oven Range, Microwave, Dishwasher.

We priced the same appliances at Sears and they were $8,700. We were told this was their best price. We found Markham TV & Appliance's website and decided it was worth a drive to their location Toronto for comparison. Their best price was $6,700. $2,000 less for the same items! We made a $500 deposit and paid the balance when we picked up the appliances a week later. The entire experience with Markham TV & Appliance was smooth sailing. I'd recommend them to anyone who wants the best price on their new appliances.

Complete kitchen and Laundry purchase

My wife and I purchased an entire kitchen and laundry team from these guys. The prices were great and they were very good when it came to prepurchase service. The nightmare started when we were to get our appliances delivered. We gave them nearly 6 months from purchase date to delivery date to have all of our appliances in stock and deliver to our new home. On first delivery attempt were delivered our washer and dryer and dishwasher. They did not have our OTR microwave, oven or refridgerator and we found this out from the delivery people. The store did not bother to let us know we would be spending our first few night unable to cook for ourselves or keep food in our home. I had to pay an installer for nothing. I called and a week later, they sent us a "loaner" fridge and stove. Great, right? Except they wouldn't give me a date on when our product would arrive. To make a long story short, we had to chase after them to be kept up to date. Salim, the delivery manager, and Sultan the store manager, made and broke many promises, misled to us about service and delivery attempts gave us nothing but excuses, and provided the worst customer service I have ever received! I cannot begin to tell you the amount of falsifications I caught them in telling me to buy them more time. In the end, it was only after I threatened to talk to the Ombudsman of Ontario that I was given a delivery date and a promise from Sultan that we would have been given a discount for the wasted time. Sultan assured me a cheque would be delivered with my fridge and stove. Over a month later, our product arrived, but no cheque. I tried to call Sultan at the store. I was never given to him and have never heard from him again. All in all, this was the worse buying experience I have ever had. These guys are great at taking your money. DO NOT expect any customer service from them if there is any type of issue. The prices were low, but it was not worth the headache. If you are thinking about buying from this low rate shop, I urge you to reconsider. I will certainly NEVER step foot in their doors or reccommend them to anyone!

Furnish new home

I was looking for couple of options to renovate my house. It’s newly built and I didn’t like the appliances builder was offering me. I talk to couple of independent dealers if they can swap. Builder himself was offering voucher from brick but man once they find out I have to voucher, they behave very differently…

Anyways a friend told me about this store on steeles. I went it on a weekend, it was busy. There appliances area had more LG, Bosch, Kitchenaid stuff. I figured out that they will be pricey. Anyways, soon a sale’s man approached and started regular chat. Luckily my wife is tough and did all the research. She pulls the model numbers and started asking questions.

Long talk short, sales man asked manger to involve and we got the deal what we were looking for. Sure it was a big purchase of complete kitchen appliances, laundry room and TV room.

I was scared about the payment and price drop as I was buying 2 months ahead of my closing. Again they offer me to deposit a portion and my price will be guaranteed till time of delivery. They sweeten the deal and I went ahead with the purchase.

Now the interesting part started. We both started comparing the prices and watching what was on website and other retailers were offering. Just 10 days before closing TV price droped… YES ! let me go and see what he will do? I went there and talk about the price adjustment… surprisingly manager didn’t reduce the price on TV without any question.

Again, time of delivery arrived, they called me for rest of the payment. When I went there they offer me a 6 month no interest payment plan. Juicy! What’s the catch I asked… “ NOTHING” sales guy said.

Anyways! Today it’s been 3 months. I have appliances in home working beautifully. Prices I got on that deal still better than what they are putting on their website.

Not to push anything but I guess if I spend more money I can get better service.

Buying new TV

Dear Sultan, Thank you for your assistance in helping me select the best flat panel TV for my family. Your product knowledge and pricing are second to none. I used to shop at the 'Big Box' stores, but I'm glad to have found a better alternative. I'm looking forward to coming back to Markham TV & Appliances for all my future purchases. Thanks again, you're truly tops in electronics and appliance retail! (you're welcome to use the above in promotional material)

Kitchen Appliances

I went with Markham appliances because I visited them couple of times and I found their prices to be quite reasonable. Little did I know that the low prices are only because of the big scam they are running at the shop.

I renovated my entire kitchen recently (July 09) and bought the entire set of appliances from them - fridge, stove, dishwasher. They recommended LG and I went ahead with some research and mostly on their recommendation. At the time of checking out and pricing the entire package (fridge, stove, dishwasher), the owner and the sales person said that the discounts would be applied by LG, as LG was offering a mail in rebate on these appliances. They handed me some printouts from the LG site and it clearly showed that the mail in rebate was running till June 7, 2009. So I asked them, how can I get the rebate because this was July already - and they printed me a duplicate copy of the invoice - backdated!!!!! So now technically, I had purchased the appliances back on June 5, and I was getting them delivered in July. This seemed almost illegal to me and I told them this is not acceptable. They mentioned, there is no problem, we have done it for many, many clients. I hesitatingly went ahead with the purchase - big mistake!

To sweeten the deal they threw in discounts on installation services - which on the day of installation, they completely refused to honor. My installation included hooking up a natural gas connection. The installer for the appliances came over (extremely rude and rash with his work - stay away!) and tells me on the spot that the money that I have given the store is not enough to install the gas line. Imagine this - the entire kitchen is upside down - all appliances are unplugged and I get this surprise to pay additional $450 on the spot! Of course, I call the owner at Markham Appliances and he shamelessly tells me that this is what we agreed on and that I will have to pay cash otherwise the installer will leave!

Bottomline - you get what you pay for. Their prices look good - but that because they are using an old LG mail in rebate program to lower the prices and for heaven's sake stay away from their so called installation services (the actual Gas line installers are good, but the so called 'master installer' for other items like the fridge, stove, dishwasher, is completely incompetent and will destroy more things in the house than he will fix.

Buyer Beware of Markham Appliances!

Whirlpool dryer

I have bought a dryer from Markham TV & appliances. It is a fair price. When I first use the dryer. It created a very loud noise and burning smell. I call Whirlpool to check the dryer. They found out the dryer is demaged. Since the invoice has a note that 7 days exchange in original condition. I call the store immediately and request exchange. The salesman pass me to his boss. His boss said that he could no exchange unless Whirlpool ask them to do it. So, I ask the sales manager what was the meaning of 7 days exchange. He said that the 7 days exchange policy only apply to scratch on the item but not broken unit. I agrue with the sales manager. His only suggestion was call whirlpool and ask for replacement. He refuse to replace no matter it is less than 7 days. When you purchase a appliance, make sure to ask the store what is the exchange policy when the unit is Dead on arrival. Right now, I have a broken dryer sitting in my basement waiting for Whirlpool come and fixed. However, whirlpool do not have the parts. I have to wait at least 3 weeks for parts. Whirlpool refuse to discuss any other option with me until I have wait for 3 weeks. Then they will open the case again and discuss what they are going to do.
