Over the past couple of months we have had probably 10 different transactions with Stephen and have already begun referring Flik to friends. I was quite surprised when reading some of these reviews because our experiences have been entirely the opposite. On multiple occasions now Stephen has entrusted us by loaning out pieces to see how they would work with our home prior to us committing a dime. Of course this was only after developing a rapport with some initial purchases.
The level of customer service shown to us by Stephen has been second to none and despite anything I've read here we will continue to recommend his store to family and friends as it has been a pleasure.
I hired stephan after a year of hell from other designers. He was the most easy going designer I have ever worked with and I am so thrilled with my space. I ordered furniture , it arrived and it was a great overall experience.
I have worked with stephan over the past several years, have always ordered pieces or picked up items from his store. Stephan did a design consultation for me and I am thrilled with the outcome. I ordered chairs in custom fabric, ordered some other items as well. Everything came when it was supposed to and I am so happy with it all. I did read all the online drama and stephan did advise me of it, but i also saw in the newspaper some time ago that the sofa company he had dealt with along with other small business owners went out of business. Stephan has a great store and a great eye. I would recomend him to anyone
Many of the negative reviews here are very similar to my dealings with Stephan - him claiming he sent an email money transfer, bounced cheques, swearing at me, calling me names, story after story. I supplied $2000 worth of antiques and vintage items to Stephan at Flik & Co. After months of calling & emailing him after the bounced cheques he sent an email money transfer for $500 then claimed he sent a second then followed with excuse after excuse. He still owes us the $1500 after a year and a half. Steer clear of him and his new store.
I ordered a sofa. Everything looked good. Paid a deposit. Was really excited to receive my sofa but it never got made. I never received the sofa and never got money back. Owner is hard to deal with and does not return calls. :(
its good to have friends that allow you to created fake stories once a store is closed...Sara did not order a couch and sara never gave money....sara is a friend of the bike riding lady who will be sued on her own since she creates stories ......
This business is now called Flik By Design. Stephan Howard had to change the name because of legal threats from dozens of customers and associates he swindled in Leslieville. He still owes me money and he is being investigated by the Ministry of Consumer Services. Buyer Beware: doing business with Flik carries high risk of financial loss.

firstly I did not change my name to avoid any issues - we dealt with all the flik and company interiors issues way back when - perhaps when reading the leslieviller you will note the dates and that the people who needed refunds were refunded...since you are the same person who hides their identity with other sites - i suggest you come forward and email me at email@example.com. You are a bogus pyshcopath who wants to create drama. Flik by design is a sole proprietorship and has no issues with consumer affairs or services. I suggest you research a little more and move along
Unfortunately, I am one of Stephan's customers that were "resolved", as he replied to AJ. We ordered and paid in full a sofa in April and we are still trying to get our money back. He said once that he did an email transfer to us which never went through and the string of poor and laughable excuses was getting longer and longer. Now, he doesn't even bother answering to our emails. Please, don't shop there. He is the most unreliable business owner I've ever seen, despite his talent as a designer.
I gave the owner Stephen my deposit and he never delivered my couch and when I tried to get my money back he gave me multiple cheques which bounced. I still am fighting for my deposit and its been a year!
first of all - sofas were always 995.00...secondly i have never given a cheque back to anyone who did not get their sofa - it was always cash or an item from my store as there were issues with the manufacturer - thirdly - every person was resolved and no one is outstanding. Someone should actually sue the manufacturer..this is where the issues came from.
I have read some of the online criticisms of Flik and they are completely at odds with my own positive experience.
I have bought several items from Flik and Co., over the course of a year and as recently as two weeks ago and always been satisfied. Some have been picked-up at the time of sale, others have been paid for with later delivery (in one case much later at my request).
If Stephan were the person that a couple of his detractors have portrayed, then I supposedly would have been very foolish to give pay him up front, especially with the store relocation, and the Mid-Summer closure due to health issues. In fact, ALL of my goods were delivered as promised and I found Stephen helpful throughout.
