After Purchase Services (ONLINE)

If you do purchase from their website, don't expect to be able to return anything because they will simply ignore your request. I sent them around 5 to 6 email and they only replied once. I've contacted them through multiple ways with no luck. The set I order did not match at all and the color of the pillowcase ordered was complete a different color from the photos. THE WORST COSTUMER SERVICE I've ever received. The least they can do is reply and provide a solution but instead, they just ignored the issue in whole. What a disappointment!

Curtain Panels

I bought 8 brand new curtain panels in the Bazaar pattern from the Toronto store for my sliding doors and an adjacent window for my living/dining rooms. They ended up being about $11 or $12 per panel (reduced a few times fr $49/panel) so I bought 8 thinking at that, price why not double up for extra fullness. I even ended up having the 2" hem dropped (by a prof seamstress) to make them longer costing another $100. I was so excited to finally dress my windows, only to find out that they were all very crooked! And NOT from the seamstress. My mother and I inspected them carefully and the panels were crooked to begin with, not only in length but in width, too!! But it's the bottom hem that really matters. I wasted so much time and money, and now I can't even use them. I can CLEARLY see where the factory hem previously was and how crooked it was to begin with but who thinks to lay them on the floor to see if they are crooked. You just trust that store-bought panels are the dimensions they say on the packaging. I'm talking crooked by up to 2" where the left of the panel is dragging on the floor more than 1" and the right of the same panel is 1/2" off the ground. I'm livid. But of course they were final sale so it's my loss. So upsetting and such a waste of money.

Bed

West Elm carries some amazing products, however I didn't have the best shopping experience. I went into the store knowing exactly what i wanted, however it didn't seem like the sales staff cared. When i was finally able to track down a sales person, she promised to check on stock and return, however instead started helping other people and didn't help me until i approached her again after waiting 20 minutes. If i didn't really love the bed, i would've just walked out.

Living room accessories

It is a delight shopping at West Elm. I could easily move into the store. Their prices are extremely reasonable given the design and quality of their products. I love buying pillows and throws for my couch and other accessories for my home. I highly recommend as a great place for gifts as well. Anyone would be happy to have some West Elm luxury in their home. Check out the sale section too, I always seem to find a great deal on some out-of-season items.

dining room table

We were looking for a gift for our daughter's condo downtown and visited the West Elm in Liberty Village. Amazing store with great prices on the trendiest products. We found the one best suited for her decor and the folks there helped pack it up for our safe delivery. Great selection, quality and value.

Desk for mini office

Bought a wheeled desk a few months ago for converting a closet into a miniature office. Service was fantastic and the desk is beautiful. The sales girl cracked out the tape measure and measured almost every desk in the store. She also went over the colours they didn't have, and explained that they would be happy to order them in. It made me feel like she was looking out for my best interests rather then the inventory they were trying to sell.

Decided to pick one they had in store, they even lent me a dolly to take home to help with delivery, I just had to leave ID behind. Awesome service!

Only problem I've had with it is it has a wheeled keyboard tray that has wheels that go to the floor. Around the wheels are rubber rings to prevent the floor from scratching. It tore and broke off after a week. Now I barely use the roll away keyboard since it would scratch the floor. Oh well.

sectional sofa

I found a sectional sofa (baxter sectional) for CAD 1300 which is a reasonable price for such modern and comfortable sectional sofas. It was a great deal and it fits perfectly to my living room.

Bedroom furniture

Nicely laid out showroom. Sales presence wasn't has helpful as we would have liked. Did end up with the Niche 3-drawer dresser. It's a good product and the price was relatively reasonable. Good to see the the Canadian pricing relative to US is fairly close.

Picture Frames

Not sure what all the hype is about when it comes to West Elm. They have a simple design aesthetic and lots of items for a neutral palette. Their accent pieces lack colour and the store itself is always in utter chaos with not enough trained staff to go around. Price points are good for some items and completely overpriced for other. My advice is to know what you're looking for, know the comparables and be prepared to help yourself.
