This is a very loooong overdue review. We hired Peter when we bought our semi in Riverdale in 2004. They did work on our walls, flooring, painting and our electrical work as we had lots of knob and tube.
Fast forward to 2013 when we were selling out home. Turns out the electrical connect to our home was temporary and, when we contacted Hydro One, it turns out that Peter never sought out the necessary permits!
When Peter's guys did our electrical work, my husband insisted on getting something in writing from them to assure that all knob and tube had been replaced and upgraded. We received a signed statement (which we still have). When our calls to Peter about the permits, etc.. went unanswered, we contacted the electrician. Lo and behold, said electrician NEVER DID WORK ON OUR HOME! Not only that, Bedford Brooks was also well in arrears with the electrical company.
The electricians were a class A crew and they agreed to sign off on an electrical inspection of our home and we had to pay for new permits. Again, all calls to Bedford Brooks went totally unanswered. We had to pay approximately $800 in permit fees. The electrician didn't charge for the work and we happily handed over the forged document that Peter had provided us.
Granted, we had sold the house on no conditions so we technically could not have dealt with the issue of not having a permanent electrical connection to the house. We could not, in good conscience, sell our home knowing that our electrical work was not done by an by a licensed electrician. So off we scrambled to make things right - and safe - for the new home owners.
What if something happened? What if there was a fire? These are things that Bedford Brooks apparently didn't care about. We paid for services and permits that we did not receive, then we paid again to make things right. And we never, ever heard back from Peter.
