carpet cleaning deodorizing

I took in a feral kitten who liked to mark her territory by peeing on the hall carpet. I manged to stop her from doing this but have never been able to get rid of the odour. I've used many pet store products and then found a positive review of Sears Carpet Cleaning and Deodorizing. I called Sears, they said they would charge me $69.00. When the technician came he noticed the odour and said it would be $40 extra for deodorizing. I should have been made aware that I would have had to pay extra when I booked. I had taken the day off work didn't have much choice but to to go ahead.
The technician walked around squirting a deodorizer - sanitizer on the carpet then cleaned it. The odour wasn't noticable for a day and then became as bad as before.
I called Sears to complain and they sent the technician back. I told them that that was just wasting his time and mine but they insisted. The technician sprayed the carpet again and then after inspecting the carpet with a black light agreed that the only solution was to remove the carpet.
Sears offered me a 10% refund. I feel that this is unreasonable. The technician should have inspected the carpet with a black light at the beginning and said that there was nothing he could do. I had explained the problem to him and even showed him the cat (who looked guilty!!).
If they had just refunded the cost of deodorizing , (which actually looked like a joke to me) I would have accepted it.
Anyway I am in the process of ripping out the carpet. The cat is looking unhappy as the area she has to sit on is getting smaller and smaller.

Approximate cost of services:
$120.00
