I bought a home and wanted to ensure the home inspection was a reliable one; I specifically searched for someone who had the proper qualifications I was looking for and found that Steven Butts had those certifications and more.
During the inspection, he was thorough and meticulous, was patient in explaining the systems to my husband and I using layman's terms that we could understand. He took excellent photos and gave us a hand-written report that was followed very quickly by a thorough, concrete description of all of his findings. The photos were very clear with arrows and writings describing and pointing to the issues. The report arrived when he said it would and we were very pleased.
Afterwards, we wanted to clarify several points to ensure we understood; we called Steven and he very kindly spent close to an hour on the phone with us. That was so welcomed!
We both feel that Steven Butts delivered an excellent service with great follow-up. We wished our previous home inspectors had been like this....

Steve inspected my home before I purchased it and made me aware of many issues which I would not otherwise have known about or understood. Since the home has a very tight crawl space the job was not that easy or pleasant. His explanations were realistic about the relative importance and potential impact and cost to repair the deficiencies. Based on his clear report, which included photographs of some of the problems, I was able to negotiate a lower price. In the two years since I've been in the home I have not had anything arise that he hadn't already alerted me about.
