The existing service was torn off the house pole due to the work of woodpeckers. The electrician turned up promptly to tie the wires up on a temporary basis until Hydro Ottawa was able to approve the location for the new service. Once the power shut off was arranged, the work commenced the day before and a lot of the preparatory details were completed including the removal of a large lilac bush to facilitate the installation of the new base for the meter. When Hydro Ottawa cut the power at 9:20 the next morning, the work was quickly completed and power was reconnected at 12:40 p.m. The only thing that was not done prior to leaving the site was to replace the mortar that was drilled out between several bricks to find a suitable location to mount the new meter base.
