We hired Bill to clean the brick of our century old home in the Moore Park area. Bill was very professional from the start - was very informative when we met him for the consultation, answered all of our questions and concerns, and gave us a competitive quote.

We hired him for the job, and he delivered in every aspect. He even accommodated our schedule, came on time and did a fantastic job. We were quite impressed by his professionalism and the quality of his work. I would highly recommend Bill to anyone.

We called Victorian restoration to perform some repairs on brick that has shifted in our 100+ year old Victorian row house.

They were courteous and completed the job ahead of schedule. The restoration was done to my satisfaction and it was a pleasure to deal with them.

Based on Homestars reviews & several good initial visits, we hired Bill of Victorian Restoration to remove paint from our brick facade and tuckpoint/repair any damage that process exposed.

He suggested breaking the work into 2 parts— the majority of the cleaning right away, then cleaning smaller additional areas & repairs after the porch was demolished.
At this point, we were satisfied with Bill’s work and had no reason not to trust him. So, we paid him IN FULL upon completion of the first phase of work (even though the secondary cleaning & the repairs were still undone).

At that time we also hired him to install 4 steel lintels to support the brick above new basement window openings, replace some damaged bricks, and rebuild a 4 foot brick column for the new porch. We paid a $2500 deposit for this new work.

After weeks of excuses and delays (which held up our other trades and slowed the project as a whole) Bill dropped off 2 guys on a Sunday morning. Their repairs were shoddy (see photos) and the new column looks like the leaning tower of pisa. Very poor quality work. Though Bill himself showed up a few times to “start work on the lintels” (after more cancellations & no-shows, again causing delays for other trades) he always found some reason that he could not do the work— he asked for more detailed instructions from our engineer (though the original drawings were sufficient), he needed our carpenter to further prep the area, etc; this went on for weeks. Some of his excuses may have been legit, but most were not. All of them slowed our project down & cost us money. In spite of the fact that we obliged him by paying other people to prep the entire area, had additional engineers reports done, etc. Bill only ever installed 1 of the 4 lintels. He abandoned this job and kept our $2500 deposit.

In the end, Bill also never completed the second phase of cleaning & small repairs, for which he had been PAID IN FULL. He never contacted us to explain or discuss & would not take our calls or return our repeated messages. In our last message left for Bill we made clear we’d be reviewing him poorly should he not reach out - that was more than a week ago.

Left with no further recourse, we hired a real mason to re-do his poor work & finally install the lintels. They had no problem understanding & completing the original engineers directions. They removed & redid nearly all of Victorian Restorations work at FAR LESS COST & FAR BETTER QUALITY. I only wish we had met them before we met Bill.

We re-bricked the front of the house after havinghe sun room removed and discovered that the old brick was previously painted a horrendous aqua colour. This resulted in our house having two aqua racing stripes right in front. Called up Bill to see if he could do the job. He was a bit hard to get a hold of, though I'm not surprised because he did a great job and washed the entire face of the house so that all the brick would match in colour. Very happy with how it turned out.

I love the job he did on my house it looks fantastic. I did not recognize it when I drove by. He was so honest with us and we really appreciated it. I would not hesitate to use him again. He recently came back to do a few areas for me that were not exposed before and did it for no cost. He said donate to a charity.
He truly restored my faith that there are good and kind people out there.

Bill has done some extensive exterior work for us in the past. He was kind enough ti come and do several small, but definitely needed jobs before we start on some major renos. We really appreciate that he coukd get these done for us. Great job and very little mess for such a messy indoor challenge

We didn't actually get our house stripped for a number of reasons that Bill uncovered when we did a test patch (lead paint, messy tuck pointing extensive brick repair). However Bill was very honest and direct and even refunded our money and gave us a contact for a painter when we determined that it would be much too expensive to restore the brick on our house. He is a really nice guy and I appreciated his honesty and understanding.

Bill and Tom arrived at my house right on time. Did a quick walk around with me and started promptly to work. The cleaning turned out amazing. Our 140 year old century home now is free of all the black pollution stains from days gone by and has brought out all the character once hidden. Bill is amazingly fast and thourall. All our plants and articles were carefully covered and everything was cleaned up after. Bill was a pleasure to work with and extremely knowledgeable. He took time to answer all my questions and concerns regarding my brick work. He assured me that no repointing was nessessary at this time, but if I need it done in the future I will be calling bill. I highly recommend Victorian Restoration. His price was the best and his service is excellent. Cheers!

Wow, what a difference we saw in the house after Bill and his team were done! So much so, that multiple neighbours approached Bill about his services on their houses within hours of completing our job. And now he is transforming our street, one needy house at a time :) Beyond the beautiful outcome, Bill's team was punctual, professional, friendly and finished the job in record timing. Bill and his team were very knowledgable about the treatment and preservation of old brick houses and were happy to share this knowledge. They were punctual with their start and completion dates for the project. The job involved removing several old coats of paint from the brick and making any needed repairs to the brick and mortar. This included the rebuilding of an archway over a window which they did an excellent job of. If we have further brick needs in the future we'll definitely call on Victorian Restoration again.
