Never EVER use Young’s Appliance Service

Where are the negative stars coz zero stars is too much ? Youngs told me they needed three parts to repair my fridge but only had two of them so Id have to wait for the third part to arrive. (Apparently, this is what they say on a regular basis.) Weeks go by I checked and the parts were ALL available for next day delivery so I called them. They didnt answer the phone (again, this is how they operate - they never answer the phone) so I left a message but they never called back (and yes, this is also part of their playbook). I emailed guess what ? Yep, they dont respond to emails. I called many many times over the next few weeks and one time a woman answered the phone. She told me that Purolater were coming right now with the part and shed call me right back never heard from her again. So I called Whirlpool coz the fridge was under warranty and Youngs is their guy in Ottawa. They told me the parts had never been ordered and placed the order so we cancelled our family Christmas dinner coz we didnt have a working fridge and I gave it a week and called again. No answer, no response to messages I left, no responses to my emails. I called Whirlpool again and now they cant get them to answer the phone either so they referred it to their territory manager. A day later a woman from Youngs called to say they had the parts and they were coming tomorrow but then they called in the morning to cancel (so that was a wasted day for me) but said they would come next Monday. I was working in Montreal for a few days but I took another day off work and drove back to Ottawa to be home by 7 am. Guess what ? They didnt come. I called them at 9 am but they didnt answer the phone. Another wasted day for me and 400 kms of unnecessary driving. Never heard from them again. So I called Whirlpool again and they told me Youngs had said the job had been completed. (What the .. ???) Another few days of back and forth with Whirlpool and even Whirlpool gave up on Youngs ! Whirlpool decided it was best to just delivery a new fridge to me than try and get Youngs to fix my fridge. Were waiting on that delivery now Its going to be weird having a fridge again after 3 months.
**** DO NOT USE YOUNGS APPLIANCES - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED BY ME AND EVERY OTHER PERSON UNFORTUNATE ENOUGH TO NEED AN APPLIANCE REPAIRED. ***

Aggressive rude repairman

First guy that came was police and nice. After waiting for a long time for part I called. The secretary was extremely rude. "We'll call you when it's it!" In an annoying tone. After another call to Whirlpool someone was sent out. Guy was aggressive and rude. Told me no sense changing part as my machine doesn't do what I want it to. Funny, it did for 10 months, now it doesn't? He slammed things around. He was so aggressive, I couldn't wait for him to get out of my house. Will definitely never use again. The word has been spread about what an unprofessional company to deal with.

If I could give negative stars I would

I have had 6 scheduled appointments with Youngs appliance to repair my new whirpool refrigerator in 6 weeks of which no technician showed up at my house any of the 6 times and no phone call to say they were not coming. Every time there is a lame excuse with no parts in the truck, blank work order, no refrigerant for the compressor, my technician was supposed to call you, my technician quit on me (probably because you guys are useless) and so on. In short, Whirpool is to send someone not associated with Young's as no one from Young's appliance will ever be allowed in my home. There is no cost because no one has been by and I will not pay for any repairs as they owe me for 6 days off of work and the purchase of a backup fridge.

Young's Appliances

Highly recommend that you have Young's appliances number in your phone contacts for when your appliances break down.

They are have knowledgeable, exceptionally quick in response time, excellent customer service with reasonable prices.

Here's my experience:

The previous company I called a couple months ago tried and failed to fix the issue with 3 visits focusing on only one area- unplug the fridge to defrost and I was charge hundreds for it. Seriously, I was able to do that myself. Here I was no solutions and many inconveniences for months.

This morning, I turned to my community facebook page to post that I required recommendations for appliance repair for a fridge and dryer, Young's appliances came up several times.
Within 10 minutes of the post, the owner himself contacted me and was at my home within an hour! Within minutes he identified and explained the issue with my fridge and my dryer and fixed both within 30 minutes!! And finally someone honest with old fashion excellent customer service who doesn't overcharge for their parts and labour.

What a relief to find this gem - Young's appliance are now in my contacts and is the only company I will call going forward.

Ongoing 9 Month Odyssey of Ineptness

Our new microwave from Costco broke and they use Youngs as their repair company.
Youngs took the above the range microwave last May and still have it. They have never called, constantly give me new reasons it's not fixed when I do call, then told me not to call anymore. They would call when the microwave is fixed.
If they would just tell Costco it can't be fixed, we'd get a refund. Instead Youngs just keeps stringing us along as the months go by.
It's a total clown show with this outfit.
Avoid at all cost.

Poor management

She confirmed appointment same day only to not show up. Refuse to return calls or emails. She finally called 3 weeks later to confirm appointment next day. When I complained about her service, she responds with she is the manager with an insincere sorry, they don't have time to return calls or emails, they have trucks break down regularly and don't call to update customers. They don't care if you take time from work to wait for service. I asked for another call back from owner as I feel a simple courtesy call is required and came home to an email stating to get another service company. Lesson is...don't try to complain about their poor service to the manager as she is the service manager.

Terrible Customer Service

Terrible company with no appreciation fort customer service. Do not respect the times associated with the scheduled visit. Was supposed to be here on Monday between 9 and 1PM and then called only to find out that the new employee was confused as to their start date and the service call was rescheduled to the next day from 9 to 1PM. At 12:10 I called to find out status only to be told that he showed up 22 minutes early at 8:38am and left. Simply terrible customer service and have reported them to Maytag.

Dryer Repair

Dryer failed (would run, but no heat) while under extended warranty. The Brick sent out Young's Appliances who showed up 2 weeks after first call turned it on said, 'yup no heat' and said they will order a new heating element (no proper diagnosis was performed). Almost 2 months later, 4 visits, three parts installed they still could not fix it, they just kept guessing at what pert needed to be replaced. Their technicians are obviously lazy or unqualified and take a week to come out to install a part once they receive it.

If you are opening up a claim with a warranty company. Explicitly state you do NOT want them, to send Young's.

Appliance Repair

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. First came to my house on April 5 and by August 15 still had not fixed it. They stood me up five times and sent a guy who did not know how to repair it. The original guy did not even diagnose the problem correctly as I subsequently had it repaired by another company. Guy took the original motor, fan and housing with him. When I told them I wanted it returned he just left it on my front step. I wasted 24 hours waiting for them to show up. Did not have the use of my grill for five months. A lot more examples of their poor service. Avoid Young's.
