I bought a sectional and dinette set for $2200 at Surplus Freight in Calgary. They were quick to sell a warranty for $159. I told them no thank you because I have an 11 month old and a warranty doesn't cover him. I don't know if that made them annoyed but I get the furniture in 2.5hrs and before opening the package I notice rips in the sectional. I called them immediately and they state I can't return it but they can investigate. What am I supposed to do with a predamaged item? Also, I received the wrong dinette set and I had to pay $100 for delivery even though I bought a bedroom set last year and delivery was $60. No sofa no dinette but $2200 gone. I'm a single parent mother and I work hard and wait to buy things when possible. I'll be going to the BBB and filing a consumer complaint with media outlets. NEVER AGAIN!
pushed to buy warranty when I went to make a claim they said I was missing a paper of certificate that i never recieved therefore not covered, and was never given a certificate and paid 258 only to be told I get no coverage. Staff extremely rude laughed at situation and also played games saying they would replace stalled for weeks then said no. blown away that customers who work hard everyday and pay for a warranty after being pushed into can be treated like this I believe the they simpoly pocket the money at this point and have had no resolution I should atleast be refunded for the warranty for them to say I lost a single piece of paper and therefore get nothing is terrible I never received the paper and find it funny that I have all my receipts so why would anyone who kept and filled there receipt throw out the most important part of the papers just not right. I am a single parent who works full time and saved for along time to buy my children there bedroom set and now have broken bed that cant be used. I have offended, insulted, and treated verbally abussively and I never spoke inappropriately at any point was nice...please don't be fooled by this company and staff selling you a warranty and I recommend that no one ever spend there hard earned money at a place like this, they need completely lay off all staff especially management at kingston location the manager Steve was especially who lead me to believe they were replacing bed to after few weeks of stalling having me provide pictures and documents and me running to the store several to provide different things after working midnights to at end of it say no we can't help you and it's my fualt they didn't give me document I should of known. the receipt I have shows the purchase of the warranty why would I assume there was an additional paper missing. I am blown away that kind of behavior would go on in this day and age and especially in a professional environment. also sad that there is no one to speak to above the store Manager unless they are misleading me about that too but I haven't been able to reach anyone else... AGAIN PLEASE, PLEASE NOT SHOP THERE BETTER OFF TO THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY. at least that way you weren't treated like crap and basically bullied by staff comments and sarcasm...
I was not informed that 'ALL SALES FINAL'. The sign at the check out desk stating 'ALL SALES FINAL' was covered by store items. When I brought back my section (3 days after purchasing it), the manager initially stated, no problems as long as it's not damaged, you have store credit like it says on the invoice. I stated I would be back at a different day to utilize the store credit. While off loading it, the manager stated he 'changed his mind' and either use the store credit right away or lose it.
Please note: It does not state on the invoice there is a time limit to use the store credit.
The manager then proceeded to become aggressive yelling at me to use the store credit right away or leave. I left for my own safety and notified the police of his inappropriate behaviour.
Also, the customer service, district manager and head office number for the company is all the same. When I call, it provides me with a different name for each extension and states they are unavailable, prompting me to leave a message. Regardless of the time of day, there is no one available to speak about my concerns.
The WORST customer service I had ever received. Embellishing pieces of s#!t are employed at Surplus Freight NE location. There's a lot of bait and switch, not only products but with salespeople and their promises. I WILL NEVER SHOP AT THIS LOW-END STORE WITH THOSE LOW-END SALES GUYS AGAIN!!
I came at the right time. Great prices on super nice furniture. I am a previous customer and will go back if i need more. Staff was very helpful with helping me find the perfect fit for my family, and were very patient with me. Great warranty and same day delivery.

Purchased living room sofa set (couch, loveseat, 2 end tables, coffee table and matching lamps). Furniture lasted only 6 months before falling apart. Paid and ordered a mattress for my daughters bedroom. Took my money but did not give me my mattress. Made several visits to check on updates for deliver. Weeks later with no mattress I ended up in the store and got very angry - why???? They told me that about 3 days after my order they found out that they were unable to get the mattress. They didnt notifiy my even though I had been in there several times. Finally got my money back but had to argue with the manager to get it back. DO NOT BUY HERE!
