Drapery cleaning

A few weeks ago I took my drapes to Sketchley Cleaners. Like with most specialty items I had to sign a waiver.
When they were returned to me the following damage was done.

1. The stitching came out at the top pleats
2. The stiching along the sides were all ripped open
3. Most of the rings (to put on a rod) were ripped out
4. The red stripes were faded
5. The drapes were at least 5 inches shorter than when I took them in.

After contacting the owner I was asked to return the panels. He had the stitching fixed (why that would fall apart is beyond me) and said he would "stretch" them back to the original lengths.

Unfortunately they are still about 2-3 inches short and obviously the red stripes are still faded.

I contacted the owner again and he is now washing his hands. I could still use them. Really ? Faded colour and 2-3 inches too short.

These panels were custom made, over length silk panels with lining and cost me a few years ago over $ 600.00. And obviously pus the money I paid to have them destroyed at Skechley's.

If nothing else, this should be a warning to others to be very careful when signing the waiver. When in the store it was minimized to "don't worry, nothing ever happens, it's just a formality". Now that they are destroyed, the answer is "you signed the waiver".
