roughed in Central Vac instalation during home build

Our home was built by warman homes, this past week we took advantage of the "roughed in central vac" they put in while building the house and bought and hooked up a central vac. Unfortunately, when they put the blank faceplate over the roughed in piping they used screws that were THREE inches long, meaning when they screwed them in, they screwed them RIGHT INTO the central vac piping.
The entire thing had to be taken out (due to the glue used we could not just replace the piping) It was a nightmare!
