I had the same issues. The BBB was useless. They closed my complaint file when the owner did not respond. I filed a complaint with Service Alberta under the Fair Trade Business Practices. I paid my deposit in late March, retrieved my chair and ottoman in September (no work had been done), and received my refund yesterday (mid-December) thanks to filing my complaint with Service Alberta. There is now a file on this company. Be proactive, if you have issues! Make sure you keep a file, with dates, of all your interactions with this business owner. I made the mistake of paying by cheque which was the only payment the owner would accept. This should have been a warning signal.
