We replaced carpet in 1 bedroom, where the install was OK (underpad they used was superior, to be fair), but I had warned the installers that I had caulked and plasticized the outer wall (vapour barrier was not previously sealed). They proceeded to "forget" and made a bit of a mess that they had to clean up. the runner, on the other hand, was well-installed, but we took their recommendation on type of carpet to use, and width (after they had assessed during the quotation process). It's ugly. REALLY ugly. Wrong type of carpet...our friends used Benchmark carpets (after seeing what happened to us) and their results were far superior ... the materials recommended were correct, and the install was superior. Our runner belongs in an out-dated Victorian home .. so we will have to rip it out and re-do it.
