Post A/C installation issues

I wanted so very much to have an excellent experience with them but they made it impossible. As far as receiving a quote and installation they were speedy. However, I was assured the installers would bring a winter cover which they did not. I'm also certain as we had the builder rough in the a/c already, there was already pre-drilled holes in the furnace (also by Overland which was why we went with them)...but the installers still drilled new ones. They didn't use enough metal tape to seal where the pipes fed into the furnace. My other issue was we had agreed to a 16 seer unit...received a unit that had a lower seer # from the manufacturer, and Overland claimed to have put a higher efficiency coil in to bump it up to a 16 seer. While I was charged for the extra coil and it's reflected as 16 seer on the receipt, I'm certain if I needed to go through the government for any rebates they would only go by the seer number on the unit itself. So beware on purchasing they do this.

Lastly this would be all water under the bridge if it weren't for the fact I was promised by the owner that he would send a service tech out to fix the air leaking out and provide the cover (but I would be charged for the cover $200)...I contacted him a few days after the installation mid-July, and every time I asked him to book an appointment for me he never got back to me and I've been in touch with him once a week since then. He claimed people have been on vacation or too busy to book appointments. I don't understand how I can get an appointment for installation within a week, but not get one for a tech to come out to fix an issue they caused within a 3 1/2 month period. Must be that there is no money...except in this case I would have still paid for the a/c cover? To make this right ideally they should give the cover for free. 2 weeks ago I was passed off to another rep and told she would handle having an appointment arranged. I initially called and left a detailed message with my contact info and the call was never returned. The following week I got ahold of her in the morning and I explained the situation and was assured she would call me right back once she was in the office which she didn't. I have since called and left another message. I should also stress in all contact with them I have been cordial and polite and have not been irate with them in the least bit. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

Unjust sales practice

I called Overland Heating since we had no heating in the house even though the furnace was operational. I was put through the technical Assistance desk who concluded that a service technician would be able to fix the problem. The charge would be $119 for the first hour of labor and the parts would be free.

The very next day, the technician came by and after fixing a switch, charged us $246.91 - you will understand my alarm at this exorbitant charge since we were expecting $119! He told us that $119 is only a diagnostic fee and $99 is a labour charge (+taxes).

Upon calling the office to complain about this unjust charge, I was told that I was indeed told about the $99 charge in advance. Well, I was not. That is an exorbitant charge to change a switch and completely unjust.

I don't trust them.
