big snowstorm here. Heat went out. Called Holmes - within 90 minutes someone was here (Norm Rollins) - not only did he fix problem (pressure valve closed off) but he took the time to explain several things about furnace operation, and also started putting aluminum tape all over our ducts (house is just over a year old). I didnn't even know what the tape was called. I really appreciate not only the competence, but also I felt like he wanted our home to be as functional as his.

Excellent Service done by Ryan Brown. He in and out of the house and changed the pump on my humidifier. Would recommend him to anybody. Very happy with the service.

Norm Rollin was our technician - AMAZING! He drove from one end of Ottawa to the other at 11 pm, through a snow storm. Within 20 minutes fixed my furnace - can't say enough good things about him.

In an effort to reduce my electricity and gas bills I decided to replace my older furnace and air conditioner. Holmes was efficient, true to their price, and prompt. The installation was smooth and the crew extremely professional. I am very happy with my new equipment and would absolutely recommend Holmes.

We had Holmes in for a furnace and heat recovery ventilator clean/inspection. Both units were 17 years old. The service technician found that the furnace had a malfunctioning gas valve and induction fan. The HRV had a seized fan motor and the baffle motor was non-functional.

We decided to replace the furnace and HRV instead of pumping more money into the 17 year old equipment. Holmes helped us very quickly by sending some electric space heaters to our house to keep us warm. Feddie, the sales consultant came to our home in minutes and was very helpful. The furnace install team showed up at 8:15 the next morning (a Saturday!) and installed the furnace. They returned a couple of days later to install the HRV and humidifier. I really appreciated the attention to detail with the installation of the equipment. Very clean routing of wires, pipes, and hoses. I like that they put in a proper water shut off valve for the humidifier instead of using the existing saddle valve.

No one likes having to replace your furnace, but the Holmes team made the experience quick, clean, and trouble free.

We first called Sears, was going to cost just 160 to get the guy out here and was going to have to wait 4 days in the cold. We then called Holmes, they were here in 2 hours, great attitude and extremely helpful. Had the issue fixed (broken condensation trap) in an hour and only cost us 150 taxes in. Amazing!

Holmes arrived right on time.He did a great job on cleaning my furnance.I have been useing Holmes since 1977.He explained to me everything that he had done Ryan the technician was very helpful.Yes i would recommend them highly. They do quality work.

Norm Rollin came to do the maintenance on my almost year-old furnace. He did a great job and gave me advice on when and how to clean and when to change the allergy filter. I'm to vacuum it quickly once monthly and rinse it with just water every three months, allowing to dry for a day. I'm to use a 3M filter ($6-7) – from Cdn. Tire, etc., for a day while allergy filter drying. I didn't know, but allergy filters will last years. He also told me something I didn't know - I'm not to use the allergy filter all year. The 3M filter is the one to use in the summertime from the time I turn the heat off to the time I turn it on in the fall. Note that the allergy filter is quite expensive - 87.05 before taxes - so the advice was valuable. Also, I wouldn't have known in which direction to install the filter. Norm marked the direction on the furnace and told me to ensure that the arrow for “air flow” was pointing to right. Also, he asked me why I had the furnace fan on the thermostat set to high. I told him that different parts of the house were different temperatures. He checked the cold air returns upstairs - we have a split-level house - to ensure they were open. Lo and behold, the upstairs bedroom returns were closed for years. He showed me how to open them and to ensure that the pin was up all the way for the return to be closed. In fact, he recommended I remove the pins so that the returns are always open. The furnace installers last year told me I should put a cup of vinegar in the water system to keep it clean. Norm told me where to do so as he thought it was a good idea. If you decide to go with Holmes (they were in my opinion the first company to use the small machine vs. the truck and hose to clean ductwork), ask for Norm Rollin.

This will be my third time using Reliance Holmes Heating and once again they exceeded our expectations. They originally told us they would arrive at 11am. I received a call at 10am asking if it would be alright if they came early - check mark for class right there. Upon arrival, they were clean, professional and very friendly with both my wife and I. We have dealt with many trades over the years and Reliance Holmes Heating seems to continue set the bar for everyone else whether it be working on our furnace, AC or now with the duct cleaning. I rely heavily on reviews for many purchases so I felt obliged to write a recommendation here for this company. Thanks.
