I called Oosterveld to replace a coupling on my Buderus boiler since Union Gas said it was not to code (previous homeowner or boiler repair had done this). Told them exactly what Union Gas said needed to be done. They sent Rick out and he spent 10-15 minutes at my house and then at the door, charged me $110 for a diagnostic fee, to come out and look at the work that Union Gas had already diagnosed had to be done. I also asked him to check the heat in my accessory apartment since it was cold in there, and he only said "Is it hot? Then it's working." I still have that as an outstanding issue, and will be going with another company to address this. Rick said he would get back to me the next day with a quote. Nearly two weeks went by. I called again for a quote and Rick said it would cost a lot of money - maybe $250 or more, depends what it looked like when he opened it up. I asked how much the ceiling would be, he said $400. He didn't seem to know the system. I called back and asked for someone else who knew Buderus boilers better to work on it. They also said I needed to pay over the phone in advance for a $500 kit (including labour time) they would have to use for the job. They sent Simon, who did the job, but got progressively more rude to me in the time it took to get the job done. He walked on my hardwood floor numerous times with wet boots, despite my asking him to take off boots over the hardwood. He tried to upsell me for maintenance right at the start of the visit, and when he opened the boiler, he cracked off a piece and said "look, this is cracked too, but fortunately this piece is in my replacement kit." I seriously suspect it wasn't cracked until he cracked it off, because when I asked to look at it, he turned his back to me and wouldn't show me until he pulled it out, and a cracking noise was made as he removed it. At the end when the job was done, I asked a few questions to understand what he had done, and he said "can you read this?" pointing to the word "intake". Unbelievable. The job was completed, but the delays and terrible customer service cause me to recommend not choosing Oosterveld for this type of service.
