Excellent service and product

Co-owner Daren provided very professional and speedy advice on a floor I'd had installed a few months ago. He worked with the contractor to ensure that the floor was installed correctly. At the same time he measured for a future installation. I'm pleased in all regards and highly recommend their service and product.

Highly recommended!

We purchased our laminate flooring from Woodpecker this past February. During our visit they offered to measure our apartment free of charge but we were even more surprised when they offered to do the measurements the same day. This was so helpful to us and saved us a lot of time. A little over a week after our visit, 2 installers from Woodpecker were hard at work installing or new floor. My husband and I were very pleased with the service we received and have already recommended them to our friends and family.

Unbeatable Customer Service, Beautiful Maple Floors!

We contacted Woodpecker at the end of November and the manager, Bassanio, promptly came over to our condo to provide us with a quote for removing the existing flooring and for installing new engineered hardwood flooring with new baseboards. He was very professional and was quickly able to determine the exact amount of product we needed with very little leftover. His quote was extremely competitive, especially for the quality of the product. We went with Preverco Engineered Natural Hard Maple in 5 3/16”, Pure, Semi-Gloss. “Pure” meant that it had the least amount of grain and colour variation from plank to plank. It was also the only “pure” product out of Preverco, Vintage, Lauzon, and Mirage that came in such wide planks and in up to 7’ long per plank, which really helped elongate our small hallway. Planks larger than 5” wide in such a high grade (i.e. “pure”) were non-existent in the other brands we researched.

Bassanio pushed hard to expedite the shipping process and managed to schedule a crew to start work for us immediately despite it being high season, with everyone trying to finish their renovations prior to the holidays. The shining star of the crew was Rafal, who uncomplainingly removed all of the existing flooring even though it was double glued to concrete and required both machinery and intense manual labour. It was quite a bit of work for a 1,100 sq. ft. condo and other contractors had taken one look at the old glued down floors and fled. The whole removal process took 7 backbreaking days and even though it ended up being more work than everyone had anticipated, Bassanio unflinchingly stuck to his original quote. The installation of the new floors and baseboards went very smoothly after that and only took 2.5 days to complete. Our new maple floors look flawless and the mitre cuts on the baseboards are immaculate.

Overall, Bassanio was incredibly responsive throughout the entire project. Every time we had concerns or encountered problems, day or night, weekday or weekend, he answered our calls instantly and mitigated the issues diligently and painlessly. For example, when we discovered a defective plank had been accidentally installed, Bassanio immediately ordered a replacement and expedited the shipping from Preverco (in Quebec) and sent the team over to perform the repair within a matter of days.

Woodpecker has proved itself to be a trustworthy vendor with a great product and reliable customer service. They are my number one choice for future projects and I would highly recommend them to everyone! Ask for Bassanio at their showroom in Richmond!

Home renovations - flooring

We needed new flooring for our bathroom and had a great experience with Woodpecker. Although I later learned about the pricing difference between a neighbor's bathroom flooring renovation compared to my own, the quality difference is night and day. The pricing may be a bit steeper than discount dealers, but the quality is very noticeable and I am very happy with my decision.

hardwood floors

Woodpecker gave me the best price I could find in greater Vancouver on top-quality hardwood floors. These were NOT cheap Asian floors. Their installers went the extra mile re sanding and leveling prep in a challenging older home.

retail store Pacific Centre

I asked wood pecker for a quotation to install hardwood flooring. I provided all the specs of the wood flooring and when they started the work they doubled there price because they didn't quot the work properly. We are a large contracting company and we subcontract over 500 thousand square feet of hard wood flooring every year and we deal with many installers. Wood Pecker takes first place for worst installer.

Woodpecker Hardwood Floors

I ordered north american cheery (select or better) thru a large flooring retail chain, but they admitted they got the flooring from woodpecker, since they had good pricing, due partially to them having their own mills back east. They delivered the hardwood in boxes, we let it acclimate in the house for 4 days, then a very experienced installer I knew personally installed it. He laid tarpaper on the 3/4" subfloor, then nailed each piece in place. Although select+, there were about 5% of pieces with white streaks thu the wood. I had ordered a bit extra, so hand picked and got rid of any big white streaks, then put them in the closets.

The Cheery had a low sheen, looked beautiful when installed. Not too busy. However, it turned out to be much softer than I expected. The "super hard" silicon dioxide ? coating scratched easily. I didnt have dogs, but do have kids. It also got +25% darker in sunlight areas, which was a pain where there were area rugs, as we had to remove them to even up the red darkening.

We moved, to west van, doing a big reno, but will get a quote for stained white oak (select or better). We also looking at sand on site, so supplied with no finish, and not micobevel type pieces, although not sure they offer that.
