Roofshield Systems Ltd replaced my roof in 2008. In the course of completing other exterior renovations in 2019, we uncovered that the step flashing had not been installed properly.
I contacted Shaun and was advised that as the warranty had expired they would not consider compensating me. Eleven years have passed and the warranty has expired; however, a warranty is predicated on work being done properly, and it was not.
This complaint is outside the purview of the Better Business Bureau, Roofshield does not wish to compensate as they are using the expired warranty as a legitimate reason not to, but it is not.
I am exploring other recourse with the Consumer Protection office of Ontario, but do not hold out much hope that it will lead to a resolution.
My only power as a consumer, our only power as consumers, is to share our experiences to make sure we hold companies, like Roofshield, accountable for their work no matter how long ago it has been done.
