Arctic Swim Spa — worst purchase ever

We purchased an Arctic Swim Spa with Spa Boy in 2016. Within the first year we had to replace the electronic board, pressure switch, generating electrode, fixed the leak at pump #3 and added salt water balance (SWB) every other day. Draining and filling the pool is a nightmare. This week we have added 56 caps SWB, 38 caps Perfect Balance, 2 caps Boost AND our PH is still too high. Four different people at Arctic Spa have been able to help us.

Worst product I’ve ever owned

I’ll start with the installation. I needed a crane to lift it in. They recommended Adam Crane. I called them for a quote and was told they would get back to me. Six weeks later the tub is ready and still no word. I called them again and they told me “Sorry, we can’t do the work at your place.” This left me scrambling to find someone to lift it in at the last minute. Not Arctic Spas directly but the third party which they recommended.
Okay, so I get the tub installed, wired and filled. It leaks and the fountain jets don’t work right. Called for service. After two visits he was unable to fix the problems. I was getting tired of filling the tub every morning so I fixed it myself. He was overtightening the nut on the joint at the heater and there was a piece of plastic in each of the fountain jets left over from manufacturing that I had to cut out with a knife. I decided at that point that I wouldn’t have their service people out to look at it anymore.
A little while later it quit on me. I actually got good service from the service department over the phone and they helped me troubleshoot it down to the pressure switch. I replaced that myself and it worked again.
The next summer I had it turned down to about 80 for the hot weather. We had a storm and the power blinked off. The next day my daughter and her friend were going to go in the tub to cool off. I told them to “Go ahead, it’s nice and cool.” The friend checked the water and said “It’s way too hot for me.” I checked and it was over 140degrees. If that little girl had just jumped in she would have been terribly scalded. This on account of a power blink. I shut it down and called the service department again. This time the help was a little bit questionable. He told me the board would need to be changed and that I could help it cool down by leaving the cover open but not to let direct sunlight actually hit the exposed tub as that would ruin it. They sell these things to be used outside but they can’t be exposed to the sun? I replaced the board and it worked again.

It actually worked good for a couple of years other than the rust which I constantly have to polish off of the stainless steel, then the heater shorted to ground and threw the breaker. I troubleshoot that myself and bought a new heater.

A little while later it quit again and I found a blown fuse on the board. I replaced the fuse and it was okay. I still have no idea why that fuse blew.

Last fall the two speed motor shorted to ground and threw the breaker again. Rather than fix it at the time I drained the tub for the winter. I troubleshot it myself and bought a new motor/pump assembly $560. I installed the motor but it won’t work. The screen shows four dashes. I called the service
department and she told me I need a new board again. Bought the board(another $260) and installed it. No change.

I’m now trying to decide weather to throw more parts at this piece of junk or just load it up and take it straight to the dump.

Arctic Spas 2017 — very bad experience

Spa Boy is crap — 1. does not stay connected to the internet. — after hours of trouble shooting with tech support still no resolution. problems with spa boy not covered by warranty!!! 2. Spa boy automatically generates sanitizer, but this process drives pH way up. You then have to continuously add pH reducer which drives alkalinity below limits. Tech support is useless in helping resolve this design flaw. It is very clear that tech support staff are not trained properly. I WILL NEVER BUY AN ARCTIC SPA AGAIN

Arctic Spa Service level

We have had the spa for just over a year and it has performed reliably for the most part. However, whenever you phone the company for service either no one answers or you leave a message that no one answers. If you are going to offer a service then at least uphold the promise of answering the phone or returning a phone call to provide a "Service". On a positive note when you go up to the retail outlet the personnel are both helpful and friendly

Upselling services and not customer service or experience

bought a hot tub, sold all the "bells and whistles", super excited about the purchase. for the following 3 years was not able to get a control on the balancing, etc. based on the fact that i was sold really untested or truly features that were not functional as intended. dealer i bought from transferred owners, new owners wanted to replace my features to make it work (which it actually costed me as well). tub liner was ruined after 5 years based on the garbage. writing a formal complaint to arctic spas corporate office, received not even a reply to apologize. garbage service, garbage features, garbage experience. for the price of a compact car, you think one would back their products as a new purchase, not make you feel like you just got hosed at a used car lot and regret your decision to go there for years after.

DO NOT BUY AN ARCTIC SPA HOT TUB

Purchased new Arctic Spa Kodiak tub in spring of 2016 at Edmonton Boat & Sportsman show. Was sold on being able to monitor tub from my phone remotely, adjust temperature, etc. through their "Spa boy" wireless program. Tub was delivered and hooked up in April and not a month goes by that I don't have issues. When a service person comes out the issue is always "my fault" somehow. How the tub not working, their spa boy not being able to connect to wifi when router is literally 10 feet way and so on is my fault as the consumer I do not know. In 8 months I have literally had over 12 service calls and still having same issues. Anyone want to buy a used hot tub?

Arctic Spa Ocean

Do not buy from Arctic Spa. I wish I had seen the negative reviews before we dropped almost 30,000 for the Ocean series. It hasn't even been a month and it has been a terrible experience. I wish I could return it. It arrived damaged, poor workmanship. We paid extra for spa boy but the tub will not stay connected to the network (either through cloud or wifi). Today I had my family from out of town want to get in and I see that it isn't holding its temperature. It is set at 101 but continues to drop. I hope that future hot tub purchasers read this review before getting the wool pulled over their eyes by the salesman. I see that this is just the beginning of our problems at it seems Arctic Spa has poor customer service and product.

What I don't understand is that they have so many unhappy customers yet they don't seem to care?

Arctic Spa Swim Spa

We bought the Hudson Swim Spa from Arctic Spa in the West End Edmonton a few months ago and love it! Besides relaxation and fun, it has given us amazing family time where we are enjoying the water, the lights, jets, waterfall and most of all just talking to each other while in it. Thank you Aaron and the Arctic spa group for helping to make everything stress free and helping to make our dream a reality! If you are thinking about looking into any kind of spa, check with Aaron as he knows his stuff and is incredibly helpful and great to deal with!

Arctic Spas Hottub

I bought this new "ARCTIC SPA" Hottub in Aug 2012 from Paradise Bay in Calgary for $12000.00.In just over 3 years of ownership i have had 4 major warranty repairs/parts failures. The first was pump # 2 overheating and going into limp mode,Paradise sent a tec out to look at it and just reset the pump with the switch and said to do that if it did it again.Over and over again it did it until the reset would not work----pump was replace under warranty.Second problem was a pressure switch---replace by Paradise under warranty. The third repair was the mother board burnt up,replaced under warranty. Now we are at having problems again with the mother board ,smells burnt again and the hottub has tripped the breaker---tec say it a $700 repair once the warranty is done.Absolute garbage and poor reliability.Paradise Bay advertises a lot about how "ULTRA" Reliable these tubs are,i would hate to see what "UNRELIABLE" means to them.Don't buy the hype from these guys as the service tec says we have really good tubs out there with no problems---you got a bad one and we will fix it for free until the warranty is up.After that i can see this just being a pile of crap that requires constant repairs---DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESES TUBS FROM ANY DEALER.
