sofas

i purchased my sofa set from walia discount mart in the jane and finch mall..i thought i would give them a try..i was promised by a man by the name rocky that i would be reciving real leather sofa that would not start to rip..i told him i was will to pay more if i had to,he asured me that they would be real..when they were delivered to me they there was a rip on one of the chairs..i called the managment they told me that they would send some one to look at it..the next week or so this man comes with a needles and thread(YES A NEEDLE AND THREAD)and starts sewing the chair..when hes finished my chair look ridiculus..i call managment again and say i want new chairs they tell me that my chairs are discountued and will not be able to get a refund but there willing to give me a $25 dollar cupon..i just spent $2500...wow these people are crazy..im not one to argue and make a scene..so i just called it a loss but walia will never get my business again.

2 pc. sectional

I recently purchased a 2pc sectional sofa from Walia's furniture. I have to admit i was pretty satisfied with the purchase (love the sofa). The service was ok. I was worried at first that they may screw up my delivery or something, but everything turned out very well. I guess there is a reason why they have multiple locations.

Entertainment recliner sectional sofa

I have read the reviews listed here and agree whole heartedly. The Delivery was messed up as well, and the delivery men were disrespectful, rude, and threatened to run me over with the truck when I stood by the door. I was very upset that they kept pushing the pieces of the sectional down my entrance to the livingroom and stacking them awkwardly....leaving no room for me to unwrap and put together or inspect. I asked them to stop several times however, one of them was telling the other not to listen and just pushed them in on me. I followed them to the truck and demanded that they tell me why they did that to me and that I couldn't physically manage what mess they left and why they didn't stop when I asked them to. They were indifferent. I am 50 years old, I am a community nurse in Scarborough, I live alone, and I have a partial disability. No one cared. and he told me to move as he started the truck or he would run me over.
The worst part of this is that after a couple of months the mechanism broke in one of the recliner chairs (I am the only one who sits in it). I asked them to fix it and they said I only had 24hrs to make any complaints and so they wouldn't help. I am outraged that they can run their shotty business this way. They won't order me the part even. The set doesn't fit together either. The connections don't match. I purchased this from the store in the Loblaws superstore building in Ajax. I want to start a class action suit with the other people in this site. If we come together with a lawyer in a class action suit then the cost of our claim will stop this company and we will make the public aware and perhaps receive the compensation we are searching for. Our money returned, your product you purchased in good order, and parts and service for shotty parts/mechanisms.
Please don't let this go by. This is not acceptable business in Ontario.
Don't be a victim....there is power in numbers.
I too will contact the better business bureau.

Bedroom Set

I ordered an 8 pc bedroom set on Saturday Nov 8. Was contacted by Walia each Monday for 3 weeks to tell me the next day the furniture would come. Then each Tuesday they would call to say it wasn't in. Baby continued to tell me it would show up, I wanted my money back, she wouldn't even give me back the 75% (their receipt says they keep 25% if you cancel) even though THEY couldn't follow through with the delivery. We argued and argued, she never returned calls. Finally, it was going to come on December 9 FOR SURE. No one showed. The next day, I was told the truck broke down but she would try to get it to me that night. Nope. Then the same story on Thursday. Nope. Then she swore up and down it would show Friday, and it did. AT 1AM in the morning. The driver called us at 10:10pm Friday night to say they would be there soon. At 11:30 my husband called back to see if they were still coming, only to be given attitude. Then at 12:45am I called again and surprise, they were there 5 minutes later.
The one nightstand was damaged and I have to send them a picture to see about getting a new one. What a hassle.

I would never deal with these people again. Day after day, they have no answers, won't even give back money after they keep telling me that the product is coming but it never shows up. I am convinced the only reason I got my set was because I threatened to go to a lawyer and spend whatever it took to get my full refund from them and that night it showed up. I really don't believe they were ever going to deliver and tha tthey hope if they keep giving people the runaround they will walk away with nothing, while Walia keeps their money.
I would never step foot into this store again. The stress was horrible and the Customer Service and Baby were terrible. What company delivers at 1AM in the morning???????

I had decided to purchase a 6pc bedroom set from Walia's in Mississauga, apparantly the head office location. I put the set on layaway and was told there would be no chance of it being sold out as once the layaway is processed, the set is reserved. As I got closer to my move date, I went to pay the remainder of the balance ($500), but was told the company is closed for rennovations. I was confused how come nobody called to say this, and was irritated that I had to go out of my way to pay at a different location. And of course, No, they would not accept C.O.D.! I went and paid the remainder but decided to put it on a credit card...just in case. My delivery date was confirmed, and they even called me the day before to say it was all on schedule. Imagine my surprise when the delivery shows up...minus the dresser and mirror! I called the H.O...you guessed it, a woman named Baby..and she said it was out of stock, no idea when its coming in. Like I should be happy. My calls to Baby continued for almost a month now, none of my messages have been returned, and every conversation has resulted in her asking for more time. Time has run out. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company for the $500 portion of the payment, and hope that they will allow it. I am at the point where I want my money back and want the whole set gone. I've also filed with the Better Business Bureau who are currently "investigating". My next step will be to sue this company for their shameless exploitation of consumers, and downright dishonest business practices. I feel this entire company, under the 4 different names they have, should be closed down as "scammers" I warn you, the savings are not worth it!

Bedroom set

April 2nd i purchased a bedroom set from the Burlington location. I have to admit that i spent 3 weeks wondering if I should buy from a store that I knew nothing about, but it was going to be a savings of $300, what could go wrong? Well all could go wrong as it turns out. The set was to be 6 pieces, mirror, dresser, night stand and the bed(3 pieces. I made it very clear to the sales person that I did not need the set delivered until May 1st. I asked if there was a chance that the pieces would be sold out, should I take delivery ASAP? He assured me, guaranteed me, gave me the head office # and promised me my set would be delivered between 2 to 6 pm on May 1st.
On April 30th, the day before, I get a phone call from Baby at head office-the set was not in. Surprise. She could though deliver the bed along with a different night stand and a chest instead of the dresser/mirror combo. Oh, and even better, she would not charge me extra. I explained to Baby at the time that i was not a fool, and I knew that the set she was offering was actually on sale for $100 less than what I had already paid. I told her to cancel my order, she in turn asks me to please not cancel and to wait and see what she has to deliver.
Big mistake--the driver was 3 hours late, comes in my house on his cell with a personal call, uses my washroom without asking, and starts to leave when I question why he has only dropped off a bed. He waves his hand at me and points to the phone he is on. When he did finally have a moment, he explained to me that "Walia never has any item in that they sell and that I was lucky to even get the bed". At this point my husband comes to the door and asks him for proof of only the bed being delivered. The driver then started to get nasty with us, refusing to leave proof. When my husband followed him to the truck, the driver threatened to run him over if he didn't move.
It is now June 30th, no dresser, no mirror, no night stand and of course no returned phone calls by Baby and her promises of the rest being delivered on the next Thursday. Save yourself and never ever walk in the doors of any Walia location.

Dining Table, six chairs,leather sofa and chair

Purchase made Dec.2, 2007 and paid in full at the Whitby store. Delivery scheduled for Dec.18, 2007. between 2 and 7pm. No show, no call, shop said they were unable to locate the driver. The delivery truck came after 9pm when no one was home so no dining set for my families Christmas dinner. After numerous phone calls to customer service in Mississauge finally delivery was made Dec. 28. But wait the leather chair is damaged and two dining chairs do not match, they are bar chairs. It is now Jan. 14, 2008 dozens of unanswered phone calls and no response to messages I left for Customer Service. The Whitby store finally told me the chairs are in their store I am to return the bar chairs and pick up the correct chairs. But I did pay for delivery and the error is Walia's. I told Walia I will not hurt myself lifting that box or pay for someone to do the exchange so I am still without the chairs I have paid for. Never mind poor customer service I agree this is fraud.

Living Room / Dining Room Furniture

NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM WALIA MART! I purchased a living room set and dining room set from WALIA"S IN ORANGEVILLE on November 5 2007, The furniture was supposed to be delivered on November 14th between 2 and 7. The delivery crew finally arrived at 9 p.m. that night, with only 2 dining chairs, (no table, no other 4 chairs that I purchased, or lazy susan that came with the set) Then when I unwrapped the Living Room set NONE OF IT MATCHED! The Couch isn't even the same colour as the Loveseat and Chair!The delivery crew said they'd leave the furniture with me and they would fix everything the next day. But I had to go to the Orangeville store and take the dining set with me in order to get it within the next 2 WEEKS before they could deliver it. Oh Ya, and back to the living room set... I still have the same crap that they sent me. They still haven't brought me the set that I ordered and paid for in full! And it's been over 2 MONTHS! and to top it all off, Now the furniture that I paid full price for is on "SALE" for $500.00 less. I call and call and even the people at Head Office (Pretty and Baby and Pryia) don't return my calls or messages or e mails! I know now, it's time for a lawyer! I only wish I had known about this site before I paid! Please stay away from these clowns!

Dinette Table

I bought a dinette table back in August, when it was delivered,they sent the wrong table. I went to the store the next day to the store manager. I showed him the invoice and asked if he put the right item number on the invoice, he said yes. Then he stated I should call the head office number which I did. After playing telephone tag I talked to a lady. After explaining that the wrong table was sent many times,she agreed to send me a new one, which took three weeks and many phone calls by me,a new delivery date was set up and they never showed up. Another call to home office and a new delivery time was set for the next day. This time they showed up, when I opened the box it was the wrong table again.
When I called the pickering store the manager said he will come to the house and check it out, when he did he started saying that, the table we picked is no longer made. He confirmed that we were sent the wrong table. The next day I was talking to the lady at the home office she stated she talked to the Pickering manager and he told her, I was sent the right table. After being on the phone forever she then stated the the manufacture has changed the product so we got the right table.
This store commits fraud everyday after what I have read. I understand it is a discount store but if a store is out of the product you chose, they must let you know not just send
whatever they like, in my case the table they sent I already have it so I have two tables execatly the same.

Heartless Customer service

Hello, I came to your store today in regards to my mother. She made a
deposit of $300.00 at your store. I came there today seeking a refund
on
that deposit because she has been diagnosed with cancer and is now in
intensive care. I wanted to show Walia's that this was not a joke or
ploy
to get my mother deposit back so I made sure to walk with the doctor's
letter to show that this was all ligit. The staff told me that all I
needed
was a letter from my mother requesting the deposit and her debit card
to
deposit the money. So I went back to the hospital, got what they asked
for
and came back. When I got back to Walia's I was told that the owner is
not
in and no one knows when he will be in. I then told them that I was not
happy with that answer and I became very angry. I raised my voice and
finally the manager came out and said that Walia's policy not to refund
deposits and my mother will not get her deposit back.
