Another chance

Several months ago I wrote a negative review of this company because of an incident moving my daughter's piano to Chicago, which was damaged in transit. I am happy to report that Tender Touch made good on covering the costs of repairing the damage, and I decided to give them one more chance. We moved from Riverdale to a condo further uptown. Tender Touch showed up on time, took great care in packing our stuff (even too good care, I can say. They wrapped some old birthday candles in several layers of newsprint!) Everything arrived in good shape. There was an issue at the delivery location because their truck was too big to go down into the garage. The driver worked something out with the condo's security, and - even though they had further to go to carry the boxes - they got everything into the condo on time.
I am happy to upgrade my evaluation of Tender Touch and say that overall our experiences with this company were very good indeed.

Company Response

Hello Eve,
I have been told that your daughters piano was repaired and that our claims dept will be covering the repair. We regret any damage caused but sometimes this can occur when moving anything but its how the company addresses the claim and the client. I know that you have moved with us since your daughters piano move and were extremely happy. We do appreciate your feedback and our goal is to always improve!

moving

We hired this service based on the review on this site. The job was to move my adult daughter's belongings from Toronto to Chicago, including her 100-year-old+ piano. The movers came on time, loaded everything and were very nice and personable. The shipment arrived in two days, as promised. Everything was just fine - except the piano. All three pedals were broken off, and there was a large gash in the wood housing. They were very good about it - immediately photographed it and sent a claim into their claim department. Again, the claim dept. was very efficient, and offered to repair the piano. However, they then said they would only pay $200 for the repair of the pedals, and none at all for the damage to the wood. My daughter found an expert in old pianos, and he located the necessary pedals, and will charge her $200. But that still leaves the gash in the case. Refinishing the wood on a piano is the most expensive part of the piano, and while the piano was old and beat up, it did not have a gaping hole in it. No one can explain what happened to the piano, how the pedals were broken off and how it was gashed. She has had the piano since the age of 6 and, while it should play okay, we are all extremely upset about this damage.
