Avoid Taylor Moving and Storage for your next move

We have moved several times over the last few years, both international and domestic, but this was the most frustrating move of all. Their crews were great, but it took more than 3 months to get our household at the destination (more than twice the time estimated). This may or may not have been Taylors doing, but we have not received one update during this period, unless specifically asked for. Just before delivery at the destination, you get an invoice for additional port charges and storage, which were forwarded as excluded services. However the most frustrating problems started after delivery, there were several damaged items and Taylor flat out refused to compensate the replacement value for an item which was clearly damaged beyond use.We had full insurance coverage for this move and it is unbelievable that Taylor tried to safe a few hundred dollars (insurance!) money over the backs of their customers. Their attitude became rude (abrupt and short emails) or chose to not reply to messages at all. No, I would not recommend Taylor for your upcoming move.

Approximate cost of services:
$6,000.00

Company Response

I am sorry you are not satisfied but happy you did like the moving crews.
On international moves we place an order with the steamship line for your moving container, this is how all moves must be moved when going overseas. They give us an eta to destination at that point but with the worldwide bottleneck in the supply chain the steamship line is beholden to factors beyond their control. The port charges are not known until the goods actually arrive at the port. This in turn is charged back to you as outlined on our contract.
On international moves we do ask for a valued inventory to be filled out. This means each item we ask you to list and place a replacement value on it. The cost of the insurance is then charged on the calculated total of these items. If a customer does not list items on the inventory they will not be insured. In this case, the items mentioned were not settled as they were not on the value inventory and hence were not insured.
I am looking at our communication as the goods were in transit. With the supply chain disruption worldwide it was difficult to track your container however we should have done a better job of keeping you "in the loop" as far as it's sailing times, time at port etc rather than just communication a few weeks out of delivery and I have used this as further training for our team.
