purchased high end dishwasher

had no knowledge of built in dishwashers or brand names so went to Tasco to not just purchase one, but get an understanding what what I needed, should look for and require for my specific circumstances. They were most patient and helpful and took the time to go through the whole product line, styles/brands and levels of dishwashers to find the fit that would be best suited to my situation and needs.

$1,200.00

Washer warranty

My washer was broken since last Monday. The technician came on Tuesday. He told us it can't be fix and left. The parts were scattered around. One week later, we will did not get any solution from Tasco. Everytime we called Tasco. The only response is "You have to wait 48 hours, someone will call you." Of course, till today, no solutions and no phone call.

Kitchen appliance

The salesperson I dealt with was very knowledgeable. The knowledge ends there. The installation department has been an absolute nightmare to deal with. Stay away from this company, you can get the same appliances elsewhere and if you require any sort of installation, even just someone to hook up the gas line to a range, stay away, it's just not worth the trouble...absolutely awful to deal with and it's really too bad because the salesman was very good, just nothing to back him up!!

Hi Jill,
We're happy that you were pleased with your salesperson at the store you purchased. Since your comment has been posted Tasco has made changes and our installation department does operate differently. Thank you for your comments.

New Bosch Stove

Bought a new bosch cooktop stove. Have never been able to trust the oven. The stove displays errors when oven is used for more than 1 hour. Contacted Tasco for service and the service man came 3 weeks later. Still have same trouble. Warranty is useless as the take far too long to respond and in my case the problem was not resolved. Went back to Tasco as we were renovating our kitchen. I mentioned to the salesman about my stove and he told me Bosch did have problems with this stove. I said, why did you bother selling it then. I spent 12,000 at Caplans. Tasco will never see me again.

Approximate cost of services:
$2,400.00

Tasco has no prior knowledge of a product going to have a future mechanical failure. We are notified however when their are recalls. Should it have happened to your Bosch range...absolutely not. We are sorry this happened.

Kitchen and laundry appliance renovation

In the past 5 years, we have purchased an LG washer/drier, Dacor fridge, Wolf 48" gas range, Panasonic microwave, and Meile dish washer from Tasco in Richmond Hill.

The LG washer had a power board fail.

The fridge has been repaired three times and replaced once since March 2007.

The range has had a calibration issue (25 degrees low) and an excessive uncombusted gas issue in the left oven.

I'm not making a judgement on this here, but is the number of failures somewhat high?

Hi Randy,
We don't unfortunately manufacture the appliance, nor do we stock parts, having said that as a dealer we can still advocate on your behalf. Please contact us if you are still continuing to have issues. Contact number is 416 642 5600 or email customerservice@tasco.net.

All new appliances

After spending for me is a fortune on all new appliances, (Wolf stove, Fridge, Miele dishwasher, washer/dryer...and unfortunatley Wine Fridge) Tasco is refusing to exchange a pricey wine fridge after it was dropped off at my house. I failed to notice a broken plug, and when turned on threw errors. After asking for an exchange unit or refund, I got the "Talk to customer service". Who never pick up their phones, and couldn't care less about how much money you spent with them. Instead they throw endless subcontractors and "RMA's" for you to wait around for.

Another prime example of lousy customer service hiding beghind some shiny products. They dont service what they sell, and good luck getting your money back.

Hi David,
We are sorry for your experience with your wine fridge. We do advertise that all appliances come with a full manufacturer's warranty which Tasco does not hold. Also Tasco does not employ technicians we rely on the manfacuter (and their provided warranty) to dispatch technicians. Thank you for your comments.

new major appliance for new home

Purchased 5 new appliances when moving into new home in summer 2008, and also purchased extended warranty (Performance Protection Plan a.k.a. "PPP")for the fridge, stove, dishwasher, and hood vent (skipped the microwave since it was only $150). The total cost of the PPP was $450 for the 4 appliances which will cover us until summer 2012.

Earlier this week my Blomberg Dishwasher didn't drain and wouldn't go into cycle again (because it was still flooded) so I called Tasco to understand how the extended warranty works. They said if it was my fault (e.g. if food was the cause of the blockage) then I would be responsible for the service call. I checked everything from the filters to the drainage hose into the sink and nothing was clogged so I decided to place a service call.

When the technician came he spent about 45 minutes trying to figure out how to take apart my dishwasher, yanking away and damaging some of the internal parts. He called his boss and still can't figure it out and then I had to read the installation manual and help HIM out.

Finally the technician was able to remove the drain pump and found a piece of broken plastic that was lodged. One of the plastic tabs that held the cutlery basket together was broken and managed to go past the filter.

The technical called his boss and advised any cloggage was considered "maintenance" and not covered by Tasco warranty. I paid the technican and called Tasco Warrnty.

Even before asking about my name, make & model of Dishwasher, etc... the Tasco Agent immediately interrupted me and read from her script (seemingly) that all maintenance work is not covered by the warranty and a broken plastic trim is cosmetics only and does not affect peformance of the dishwasher therefore it's not covered.

I understand that if the cloggage is due to food or other items I placed into the dishwasher then it's my fault, but the fact that the blockage was caused by an INTERNAL PART of the dishwasher that had broken off.

Of course, the Tasco agent is now in broken record mode repeating the same denial and refused to carry on the conversation any longer.

A couple points
1) Tasco should not be sending technicans who have NOT worked on my make & model of dishwashers before. Any HACK can try and look for screws and disassemble an appliance. I paid for two hours labor for this technician for trial and error when it should have been a quick 30-min job to open up and check the drainage pump.

2) The PPP covers performance related issues only, but if that performance issue was caused by a faulty INTERIOR part of the appliance it should be covered!

And BTW, Tasco spends about 1 hour convincing us to buy the PPP but wouldn't spend more than 5 min listening to our warranty claim.

Update: July 2012 - we went into Tasco Richmond Hill to see what Tasco would do for us and none of the sales nor warranty folks want to discuss or do anything about our case.

At this time our warranty is up and since we did not make any successful claims we decided to use the $450 warranty as credit towards a new purchase. This is where our experience got more sour - when we were sold the warranty the salesman focused on how we can used the warranty premiums as a attire credit if we didn't claim warranty, but now that we want to use the credit all sorts of conditions come up!!!!

We were told the following conditions - minimum $500 purchase, can only use one product warranty credit per each new purchase, meaning we have to buy 4 new appliance each worth $500 or more... Essentially rendering the warranty credit worthless!

We wasted more time with Tasco and should not have aggravated our experience even more by giving this company a second chance. Identifying ourselves as Homestar reviewer meant nothing to the Tasco staff other than getting a couple blanked looks from them not knowing what it is...

Washer/dryer combo

I recently had to deal with Tasco for an extended warranty claim and experienced nothing but friendliness, professionalism, and satisfactory results.

My condominium building purchased the washer/dryer combo from Tasco more than 3 years ago. Like many residents in my building, I also purchased an extended warranty service from them.

The machine recently ceased to work and I called Tasco for the extended warranty claim. I was greeted with courtesy. They communicated the problem report to the company they subcontracted for the extended service. The Tasco staff who took care of my case diligently followed up with all the companies involved, including the manufacturer. Throughout the entire process, she never failed to provide me with regular updates so that I knew that my case was being worked on. When it was determined that the unit would be too expensive to repair, they arrange for a replacement unit and took care of all the financial arrangements without any hassles on my part.

I would definitely purchase appliances and services from Tasco again.

I used to manage a technical support group in my previous company, who subcontracts services to other companies as well. I understand the challenges of managing activities and resources in other companies. The fact that Tasco managed to do it quickly and efficiently is a testament to their commitment and efficiency.

Appliances For New House

As shoppers you want to shop for the best possible price. TASCO has the price match guarantee and Allan advertised it. He even said, "No one will beat our price." My wife and I had 6 months to buy our appliances for our new house so we had time to shop around. We went to TASCO first and signed an agreement for all our appliances. We shopped around (AS CUSTOMERS THAT'S WHAT YOU'RE SUPPOSE TO DO) and saw cheaper prices at another place. Instead of paying $1500 for the washer & dryer, we found a place that would give us the same model for $999 with stands. THAT'S ALMOST $600 CHEAPER! The next day we went back and told Allan. TASCO matched the price. PLEASE REMEMBER we still had 6 months to move into our house and this was our 2nd visit with Allan. We let time elapse and 2 months before we moved we went to another appliance place and got prices that were $200 or $300 cheaper then TASCO. I called Allan and told him that we just wanted to keep the washer & dryer and cancel the other appliances. Allan said "You know what? I'll cancel the whole thing." I didn't think I heard him right and I said, "No I just want to cancel the stove, fridge and dishwasher. We want to keep the washer & dryer." Allan then began yelling, "I spent too much time with you and I don't want to spend anymore. Come in here so I can swipe your credit card and cancel the whole thing. CLICK." He hung up on me.

In total we spent 2 days in store and a couple of minutes on the phone. Allan said he spent too much time. Are you serious?

I spoke with head office and was told that as a customer I should not have been treated that way. I spoke with a lady in head office and she told me that there are exceptions to the price match. A company won't match the price if the company is losing money. AS A CUSTOMER I DON'T WANT TO PAY FOR SOMETHING I CAN GET CHEAPER SOMEWHERE ELSE. That's our right and we should not be treated in disgusting way like Allan treated me on the phone. I don't care how much time is spent. I'm spending over $6000 of my hard earned money and if you work hard for me to get a sale then you'll get my business.

I emailed TASCO's manager and said they would handle the situation. The email contained no apology and was full of spelling errors. REAL PROFESSIONAL. I never want to step into another TASCO again. TASCO PRICES $6500 THE PRICE I ENDED UP PAYING $5100 FOLKS free delivery and installation. That's $1400 cheaper.

The only bright light in this situation was the lady from Head Office. She treated me with respect that every customer should be treated and understood my anger.
