This place is by my house so I thought I would give it a try. Good quality framing and it was considerably less then most other custom framing places. I recently had an equally sized piece framed in a similar frame for more then double this cost. Granted, there is some give in quality–most frames are MDF. But the turn-around time and look for value was impressive.
I also noticed the last time I was here that this is the only place in the city that sells Ork typography city maps. (a hip screen printed typography map from Chicago). It's almost twice the price of ordering directly from them though.
Side note: the address listed on homestars is incorrect. It's actually located on Roncesvalles, not Queen West.
We have had many pictures and pieces of artwork framed at soho. The staff are very personable and extremely helpful. The high quality of the frames has actually made our "homemade art" look expensive! I would recommend soho to anyone who appreciates good service and great quality!
I choose this company because of the location and conveince to my home. I live in a condo dwelling and its nice to have access to good businesses in the downtown core. I was able to discuss with the owners my product suited for a small living space
I used to live near by and this was my go to place for getting unique little frames for gifts. I've also had a larger piece framed at SoHo. The quality of the the materials/frames and the workmanship is great. A neighbourhood gem.
I should probably being by stating - I'd never had anything framed professionally before. I'd always just printed images off on Photo paper, and stuck it in a $1 frame from the Dollar Store. Would I hang it in a Gallery? Hmm..maybe, if it was some pretentious comment on Minimalism. However, I'd never feel comfortable giving someone something so, uhm..."Fiscally Responsible" for something like their birthday..unless I really didn't like them.
I'd walked past Soho a number of times, but never really had anything I needed to Frame..until last week. I needed to have a Picture printed, and Framed...in 24 hours. I went to Soho and was ready to be passively ridiculed for not knowing anything about matting, frames, "what works", and ready to be laughed at when I said I needed it in 24hrs.
I was really pleasantly surprised. The Owner was very accommodating, knowledgeable and more-or-less promised he'd be able to get it done, no matter how short the deadline was. I was not disappointed. Dropped off the print on a Thursday at noon, picked out the frame (the staff offered their suggestions as well), the matte....Friday at 5pm it was Ready.
Can't overstate how amazing the Staff are, and the pricing is very reasonable considering it is all custom work.
I gave SoHo a couple of pieces of art that were unique and I cared very much for. They did a great job. They were patient and helped me make good choices for frames and look great in my new home!
I have framed many items at soho. They are personable and extremely helpful. Quality of frames is amazing and it has really made inexpensive art look amazing. I really miss their Etobicoke location. Service is fast and dependable. Don't forget to checkout their used frames they will cut them down for you. A great way to save.
Soho (now located on Roncesvalles) is an excellent little shop with funky frames and gifts (as well as custom framing, which I will be going for here in the near future). The staff are very friendly and helpful. Much better than some of the big-box stores I could have gone to for the same purchases. Will definitely shop there again and, as I mentioned, have some custom work done there, too!
