I would recommend Nortown Paving and Construction to any prospective customer after our positive experience.
The Job: Our job consisted of breaking up an existing concrete pad at our front door that sunk and cracked, and completely removing the existing paving, excavating, adding new crushed aggregate, grading and then repaving. Note that due to the position of the concrete pad, it had to be broken by hand because a machine would not fit the space. Removing the existing concrete was in itself a very difficult job.
The Estimate: I had two quotes (one of which I found on this site) prior to Nortown. The first was very, very low (so low it made me uneasy). The second was much, much higher, and they did not care to respond to a follow-up question. Conversely, Marc from Nortown provided an good assessment as to cost and the reasons for the costing and Nortown was willing to work with whatever brick material the customer chooses. Marc also is willing to work within your budget constraints.
The Integrity: Unlike other contractors who both demanded a deposit, Nortown insists they are not paid until the job is complete.
The Quality: Given the poor condition of the old driveway (that was cracked and had many layers of patches that still allowed water to permeate, but it did not 'breathe'), Marc cautioned me, at the time of the estimate, that the condition of the soil underneath (even after excavated and refilled) might be too soft to immediately repave. The driveway foundation did prove to be too soft to proceed; however, instead of simply paving over as others might have to save the cost of another deployment, Nortown proceeded to explain the situation and promised to return when the new gravel aggregate settled and allowed them to finish. The crew finished the interlocking stone at the front entrance, but had to leave a gravel driveway to settle and dry out. I was very impressed with this display of professionalism to complete the job correctly. Recall that there is no payment until complete so I was satisfied to wait.
The Finish: After a few weeks, Marc and his crew came back with their equipment, added more gravel and compacted and graded the material, then installed the new driveway paving.
Overall: I can state that although others make a good pitch at the estimate time, Nortown is the Company that actually delivers an excellent job. Good indicators of their professional quality can be found from their registration with the BBB, a no pay until complete clause, a full work crew all the time with all of the heavy equipment, a full clean-up after. I would recommend Nortown and consider them for any similar work in the future.

For couple years now we have been looking to get our driveway done, and so after much research we came across Nortown Paving and Construction. We decided to meet with them to see what they were about. We had a pleasant meeting with Marc and was very satisfied with our search. During our meeting we appreciated Marc's openness as he gave us great input and ideas of how to do the asphalt and interlocking. We also appreciated his honesty as he gave us a run through of different competitive pricing. However, Marc gave us a great deal!!! Marc and his crew were fantastic!! They were very punctual and confident with their work. Not only did Marc and his crew provide us with the best work on our driveway but they offered great customer service, was very polite and got the job done surprisingly FAST! They attended to every single detail we would ask them for (with a smile, I must add) and in just 2 days, everything was finished! Their professionalism and thoroughness was evident with watching how fast they got everything done, even taking into account the tiniest detail. The end result was beyond what we expected. We are really happy with how our home looks. The whole front entrance looks like a complete makeover and we absolutely love it! At the end, Marc even gave some tips in how to maintain the asphalt and interlocking for a longer period of time, and gave us great ideas for landscaping. All in all, a highly recommended team who without a doubt will guarantee an end result you are sure to love!!! Thanks so much Marc and crew!!!

I wasn't having much luck getting quotes on replacing our double car driveway. It has been a rainy spring, so with the onset of decent weather I wasn't getting any return phone calls. I checked Homestars and found Nortown Paving. I called and was pleasantly surprised to be talking to the owner who was manning the phones that day. Shortly thereafter he sent his son Mark to our home to give us a quote. Although I met with other companies, we just knew Nortown was the right choice. They were professional, and reasonably priced. We had a full crew show up on construction day. They.did an excellent job. Most of the workers were related to the owners and they treated us as family too. Looking at the driveway, the best thing is the large soldiers course they recommended. Since having it done I have had neighbours I have not even met before stop to tell me how good it looks.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY CONCRETE WORK! We were pleased with the initial services provided! Silvano gave us a good estimate with a reasonable price. They removed 2 retaining walls, some 2x2 concrete pads and the old driveway. Formed the new construction and said that they would be there the next day. It rained a couple of days but on the third day I got a call saying that they would be there the next day. The paving crew did a great job but the concrete walkway up the side of my house was a different story. The first rainfall after the work was done flooded my garage to the point where I had to remove 3 feet of drywall and studs along the entire inside wall where the concrete path was poured. I had to remove the downspout that they cemented in to the storm drain and redirect it to my driveway drain. The rainwater from the downspout was backing up because it was plugged with concrete. I can't prove that the drain tile was messed up by them but my garage never flooded previously or since. My main concern though was the cracking and pitting of the concrete as soon as the warm weather appeared. The following was one of 5 emails sent to Nortown Paving before they came to inspect it.
" I hosed down my walkway this morning and saw another crack, that makes three so far. The
attached pictures are self-explanatory.
As you see, there are also pictures of the excessive slant in the center of the walkway. It starts off
with the new concrete mating to my backyard concrete with a runoff slope of ½ inch over 48 inches
which is acceptable, then it changes to a slope of over 2 inches over 48 inches around midpoint and
finally ends up back to ½ inch over 48 inches at the sidewalk. My mother in-law lost her balance
with her walker around the midpoint . I knew it felt odd when my wife and I walked on it, but after
the incident with my mother in-law and a few comments from our friends, we know it’s just not
right. As you know, the main reason for the walkway was to give safe easy access to the backyard
and to direct water away from the house. Anyway, I’m still waiting to hear back from you with a
date/time to schedule your inspection and offer a solution."
This went on for many weeks then one day the owner called me and said that I didn't know what I was talking about and it was a bad winter for concrete. It's funny though how the new sidewalks don't crack using the same material without re bar reinforcement and that a new concrete walkway on a neighbors house that was put in about the same time as mine had no cracks or pitting either
Anyway it's been over three weeks since two of the brothers showed up and said that they would contact me in a week or so to fill the cracks (which will come back every year) and repair the chipping on the surface. During the winter I used the no salt as they advised but only salted the driveway with it so that wasn't the cause of the chipping.
The walkway looks like crap with 3 cracks and pitting and all for just under 7 thousand dollars.It wouldn't have been so bad if they just owned up to it instead of ignoring my calls. AFTER 5 MONTHS AND STILL NO CONTACT OR REPAIR. AVOID THIS COMPANY AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS.

Silvano and his team at Nortown were very professional and knowledgeable regarding the work to be completed. There were certain restrictions with my project that we had to work around but they were flexible and provided solutions that worked. I obtained multiple quotes and Nortown was very competitive. Would recommend.

We hired Nortown Paving to repave our driveway in May and add jumbo soldier stones around the entire perimeter. I can tell you that their service was second to none and an experience I rarely found within the contstruction/landscaping industry. From my first meeting with Silvano, I felt comfortable right away in knowing that he was truly an expert in his field and more importantly, he listened carefully and cared about what I wanted. I was further taken by Nortown's motto that you don't pay anything until all of the work was completed and that I was satisfied, now when do you ever hear that? Our driveway alone was 2,400 square feet and with the soldier stones added, this was not a small job so I was very impressed by the level of confidence he exerted within his company, a family owned business. All of the work was carried out exactly according to schedule and on the few days when his team came, there were 9 professional staff who worked incredibly in sync at a swift pace which was very impressive to watch. Our neighbors admired the quality of workmanship exemplified and many were interested in contacting Nortown for their future driveway needs afterwards. I was so impressed with their quality of work that I decided to have them also lay new sod on our property, covering over 4,000 square feet of space, again, that work was done seamlessly, on time and to my high satisfaction. I researched thoroughly on Homestars before finding Nortown and was a bit skeptical despite its countless 10 score ratings; I have to admit that I now understand why that is the case as I am confident that anyone hiring these folks will be super glad they did, as was I and many others. The job done on our front walkway and driveway was amazing! We really appreciated the effort and hard work that was put into it from the crew and the oversee and transaction with Marc. Everything was done so beautifully but quickly. The whole crew worked so hard and were done in two days! The neighbors were so impressed that they kept coming by to tell us they liked it and that it looks so good. Also, we think it changes the way our house looks...so much better!

We were VERY pleased with the services provided! Marc gave us competitive estimates ( and we had many! ). He was very professional, polite and not pushy at all. His idea for the design of the walkway was great! He even gave us some landscaping tips! They removed the old asphalt and walkway and completed the new ones in less than 3 weeks. We were impressed this, knowing neighbors had waited months for their driveways to be completed by other companies! The crew did a great job of leaving the place tidy. We have received many compliments on the new look for our 40 year old home!

We were very impressed and satisfied with Nortown's above and beyond work. Mark helped us place cement stairs when he came by for a quote on his own time, and they took away a huge pile of ashphalt for us. The paving job was done the same day as removal, and was well graded. Very personable, good communication, on time, trustworthy company. Mark obviously takes pride in the family business, and comes through to satisfy the customer. A+++

We have an old house and we had to redo the driveway and the front stairs , I check on the internet to look for some advise and I found homestars.
They were very good to explain us what they have to do and what materials are using and what can happened(they had to rip the old stairs from the house) .We got some estimates from 3 or 4 companies but the best price by far it was from Nortown Paving .Usually the contactors start working afer 9 am, but not this guys-7am they were working , in a couple of hours they remove the old stairs and the old driveway, and after a couple of days they finish the job.We pay the money after they start working, no money before starting working!!!! .
Sorry for the late review, we did the job 2 years ago, but we dont have any crack in cement or in the driveway.
