tightening fixtures

Despite some initial issues with timing, handyman arrived and when he could not complete the job, the company sent someone who could. Job was completed very well in 1 hour and management was quick and responsive in addressing the lost time with the first contractor and properly compensated me for my time lost. Appreciated the follow up and response from management.

AVOID!!!...3 contractors later and $187.00 bill

This company and its contractors were very unprofessional and its dealings were very strange. 3 different contractors were sent for 2 simple jobs-- hanging a light fixture and refastening a faucet.

Where to begin...Contractor #1 was 3 hours late-- with no updates from the company in his absence and they had no way to contact him. He did not finish the job despite telling me he had to leave and finish another job and he would be back in the morning. No show, no phone call. After waiting for 4 hours the next day, I called the office to complain/inquire that the contractor did not return. I was left with a light fixture dangling from my ceiling and exposed electrical.

Contractor #2 was sent later that day but he was clearly not informed that the fixture required hanging and did not have the proper tools??? He was angry when he discovered the light fixture had to be anchored and hung from ceiling. He then told me I needed to find a part for the faucet repair and to call him as soon as I purchased it so that he could come back and fix it. I went everywhere looking for the part and contacted him right away when I found it-- no response from him. After waiting around all day, I called the Mr. Handyman office the next day and inquired about this 2nd contractor who was also MIA and they told me they were sending a new guy. Unbelievable!!!!

Contractor #3 sent on day 3 of this fiasco was more competent and on time, but at the end of 3 painful days of no shows and late shows I had one faucet tightened for $187.00. He started the job and had to return to vehicle twice during the repair, going to get ladder, materials, etc-- racking up the time required for this job. 1 hour to tighten a faucet when I had already provided the hardware required?!-- what a joke.

Customer beware-- I had a bad feeling about this company and should have went with my gut after the bad experience with contractor #1 and called this company off. As a woman alone at home, I opened my home on 3 occasions to 3 different contractors and this was not ideal. On a pet peeve and courtesy note: contractors should remove their dirty shoes or wear shoe covers, particularly when going upstairs in someone's carpeted home. Down $187, 1 job completed and a carpet to steam clean.
