We searched online for a foundation repair company as we had some cracking in our brick and block foundation wall. Dean came within a day or so to inspect. We removed the interior finishes and had an engineer inspect. We also had to have an HVAC contractor come to detach and reset our air conditioner. Their excavation work was flawless, they used tarps and plywood before they started excavating to protect our grass. They even removed trees and plants and replanted them. Honestly you couldnt tell they even did any work when they were done. They even slopes the ground after to ensure proper drainage. They didnt even ask for payment right away. Great job from start to finish!

Gavin and his team did yet another fantastic job on my house which requires 2 separate foundations cracks to be waterproofed as well as underpinned. I reached out to Gavin late Friday and had Dean at my house late afternoon Monday with a quote and was able to have the job start Tuesday morning. As usual, Gavin is very professional, courteous and will take the time to answer any questions I had. His team are amazing workers and do fantastic jobs and when the jobs complete, leave a clean job site.

This is the 2nd time GJ MacRae have provided waterproofing and underpinning service and I didn't even think of connecting with another company.

We are ( at the time of this writing ) a licensed Professional Engineer (Mech) and a mostly retired General Contractor. We contracted GJ MacRae Foundation Repair to lower the basement floor/underpin the rubble foundation in our 100+ year old home. As part of the scope of work they removed the main centre wall that holds up the entire house, replacing it with a structurally engineered I beam. They also installed an internal weeping system and sump pump.

We've been planning this job for years. For us, we understand and enjoy doing the planning and research. I laugh to myself when people talk about their bathroom reno...wait, hold my beer. We had a Structural Engineer (P.Eng) create a design that would be used for building permits. With design in hand we shopped around for contractors. We also got referrals from the structural engineer about other contractors whose work he had seen out in the field. We talked to one of our neighbours who had also used GJ MacRae Foundation Repair for their century home cellar. Quotes from other companies that do this work were comparable but GJ MacRae Foundation Repair 's reputation within the construction industry is stellar....and I'm not talking about google reviews, anyone can write one of those (including me). GJ MacRae Foundation Repair have a straightforward, methodical and repeatable approach that they have been doing for many years. And there was the connection to Mike Holmes; GJ MacRae Foundation Repair was in a number of his early shows, one of them I saw on the internet the homeowener was an old neighbour! Sadly Mike didn't pop around to say hi during our job but the retired company's founder did, just because. These guys care.

I really can't say enough good stuff about the three fellas who did the majority of the work. Harder working fellas you will never meet. Polite, focused on their tasks and very respectful. We lived ( and I worked ) in the house during the big dig and I had a front row seat to all the goings on from my office, all of the dumpsters filled with soil, seventeen of them, the concrete trucks, the gravel delivery all coming and going in our driveway. Gavin was a true pleasure to deal with, a breath of fresh air compared to some of the trades we've worked with over the years.

With any large jobs like this there is usually a hiccup of some sort but how a contractor deals with issues that arise, seperates the mediocre from the outstanding. Our job was flawless with one small exception that was completely out GJ MacRae Foundation Repair 's control. Gavin talked to us about what had happenend and then he just took care of remedying it.

Gavin and his team did a wonderful job rebuilding a foundational wall covering a 13-foot section of our 120-year-old home. Given the nature of the work and our house, we were expecting a surprise or two. However, GJ MacRae completed the project on budget and as planned within three days. The team worked so efficiently and professionally that we hardly knew they were hereand both my wife and I work from home. They also posted daily updates on social mediaproof, to me at least, that they were proud of the work they did. As a new homeowner, I wish I could have received more frequent updates from Gavin while the work was ongoing. However, everything went so smoothly that it hardly felt necessary at the time!
