Mattamy Homes

I have bought a townhouse for $840K from Mattamy, and within 4 months Mattamy released the same type of townhouse at $689K. A whopping 18 percent less. I understand that I bought at the peak of the housing market. However what is not acceptable is that Mattamy firesold these properties and competes against its own old customers. I know of several Mattamy customers that are in dire situation right now: they told me their property has gone down $50-70k since Mattamy's firesale and they cannot get mortgage for their new home. They have requested a meeting with Mattamy and Mattamy is refusing to meet them. So I hope Mattamy will provide a response here on this website.

All i have to say is that I'm lucky that I am only renting from this builder. I moved to North York only one month ago and we already have RATS in the walls. Our unit is brand new. The day we moved in, things were unfinished and improperly done. My fiancee who is a contractor in Calgary could not believe that this was a new home. The contractors that they hire are unskilled and lazy. Do yourselves a favour and do not go with Mattamy. They slap things together and call it finished. It's kind of hilarious that this is what they try to pass off as new, but luckily for us its temporary. The carpets were stained, appliances dented. All fixtures are improperly put together and tiling was not straight or level. I would be so upset paying what they charge for THAT.

Our experience with Sales, Mortgage, and Home Design departments were magnificent. Kevin Wooten (Home Sales- Triple Creek - Riverview FL) is the man! He treated us, from the get go, like family. We felt no pressure in the process. Love that he always had the time to answer our questions and was able to answer all questions to our satisfaction, he was super patient when showing us every single lot in his golf cart, and super friendly individual. He definitely enjoys his job and work with people.

Karen Obluck. What not to love about her?! She is literally an angel. We have never met someone so passionate and knowledgeable like her. She was our home consultant and will recommend her to anyone. Mattamy she is gold. She cares about your company and customers.

Katy Cowan. Wow, she really loves her job. Super knowledgeable and extremely attentive to details and customers. She made us feel super welcome during our visit to the design center. Spent around 4-5 hours with her and we had a blast in the process.

I am a owner of a Mattamy homem MARIGOLD CORNERm for about four years now. The unfinished basement have been having water lacking problem since the beginning. I have contacted Mattamy to have this issue fixed, but each time, Mattamy didn't actually fix the issue. The problem keeps coming back and yesterday, Oct 30, after the heavy rain fall, the basement was having a large water lacking problem. I have contacted Tarion. Mattamy was such a bad company for customer service, and they don't have any skilled contractors.

Do yourself a favour and stay away...Turn around...run the other way! DO NOT BUY FROM MATTAMY!
Here is the thing. Yes you agree to purchase a home from Mattamy, in doing so, you are hiring them to become your General Contractor (GC) of sorts. Yes not as as a custom home builder, but as a "Group buy" home builder, so you might say you are getting a discounted rate on the GC fee. As such, you allow your GC some liberty as to whom they chose to hire and what materials to use to meet construction deadlines and work within your budget.
The people that are direct hires for Mattamy seem to be empathetic enough to our needs, however the trades they hire and the quality of materials used are substandard. They obviously don't know what they are doing and do not know how to supervise to ensure the work is being performed to meet building codes.
You are forced to move into unfinished homes, deal with trades that don't show up to do repairs, accused of damaging stuff yourself...they just don't care!
This wasn't our first builder home, however it was our first Mattamy, and we must say, NEVER will be buy Mattamy ever again!

Do not buy Mattamy homes. There were so many defects. Mattamy home warranty service schedule appointments and the cheap contractors never show up to finish issues. Bad Services and poor quality work. All of my neighborhood in Phase 9, Brampton are experiencing the same issues.

Just do not buy from Mattamy, they are a nightmare. Regret going with them. Please review your agreement with a lawyer before you sign it. Once you sign, you are stuck with them, even the best lawyers cannot help you.

Can't believe how hard it is to get work done right. We had a counter that was clearly installed wrong but we were blamed for it. There was nobody living in the home for the first 30 days but bc it was not on the 30 day then they would not warranty it. Stairs were done a total of 3 times as they messed them up... we had to leave our home while things were being done bc of the fumes. I was told a pillar on the front of our house was dirty but in fact it was not finished (I told the warrenty guy to get a rag and show me the dirt... he refused). I would recommend that you have Tarion walk through the house with you and try to find EVERY little thing. Make sure you touch the counters and feel that they were installed properly so you don't get blamed. Many other little things that had to be fixed and many things that they did not do. Warning, write down your conversations with warranty as they will try to deny things.

Some of the people that they hire such as the painters, dry-wall and trim does such a horrible job. Moved into my house and started to notice so many things that i know if they took a little bit of extra time that it would not look like a five year old did the job. Getting them to come back to re-due the jobs after your post close visit is like pulling teeth. I guess you get what you paid for when it comes to Mattamy Homes.
