Kitchen and Backyard Renos

We were very happy with Jeff's work when he reno'd our basement 5 years ago. So we hired him again to do our kitchen and back yard deck. Jeff is very experienced with kitchen renos so he understood exactly what we were looking for. Jeff is connected to some excellent contractors and he knows where to get the best quality cupboards and countertops. Jeff and his workers exceeded our expectations. They showed up on time. They even came back to do a few minor touch ups. Jeff always returned our calls quickly and guided us through every step of the project.

Structural re-build

Our dream house became a nightmare after we discovered severe structural issues. Most contractors were so petrified of the job they just stopped returning our calls. Jeff came in and took over the scene... his estimate was reasonable, and he didn't take advantage of us when new problems with the home were discovered. His men were incredibly
professional and cleaned up after themselves on a daily basis.
I can honestly say, if Jeff could handle our house of horrors, he can tackle any job.

Kitchen and bath reno

What an amazing adventure! Never having been through a major renovation before, I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but I have to agree with some of the previous reviewers that Jeff instilled confidence right from the start by asking a lot of questions, not just about my house and what I wanted to achieve, but also about how I lived and how I envisioned using the new space. He is genuinely interested in creating a space that truly fits your life, not just one that you think you'll like. I had a pretty clear idea from the start of what I thought I wanted. I had done a lot of research beforehand on the Internet and magazines and had accumulated a collection of photos of samples of what I wanted. Well, the final result is nothing like I had originally envisioned. It's better -- WAY better! A close friend of mine, upon seeing it for the first time said, "It looks like what should have been here all along!" as it blends in so seamlessly with the rest of the house.

Jeff made the entire project run so smoothly, the entire process seemed painless, even fun at times! He's got a great group of suppilers and trades and I loved being sent out on shopping trips to pick out fixtures, tile etc. He kept in regular contact with me throughout the project to advise me of the progress and what he needed me to do next.

In an older home, a few "surprises" are inevitable and this renovation was no exception. But after advising and conferring with me, Jeff quickly and easily revised the plan and kept the project rolling along.

Kris did most of the actual gutting and construction and he is simply amazing! His craftmanship is superb! And so tidy, too! The house was swept and cleaned at the end of each day. Very nice to come home to!

All in all I have say I am thrilled with the results and will gladly recommend Jeff and company.

Kitchen gut and reno

I didn't know any contractors who could help me renovate my rental property, so I started with Home Stars reviews. I met with 3 contractors, and ultimately made a great choice with J. Roberts and Associates. From our first phone call he inspired confidence by asking important questions and getting right down to business.

Renos, as anyone who has been through them knows, are incredibly stressful. They are expensive, messy, and force you to make lots of decisions. Jeffrey made this experience as painless as possible, and kept in touch to let me know how the project was doing and offering me choices on how to proceed.

When the gutting process began, the workmen found a lot of problems with the building foundation and walls. These problems needed to be addressed before we could proceed. Jeffrey was very helpful in this regard, instructing me on how they would rebuild. I feel very confident in the structure now, and my tenants look forward to many maintenance-free years!

Just as important is Jeffrey's experience renovating rental properties. The new kitchen has clean lines and solid construction with quality finishes that don't going overboard.

I highly recommend his reliable team.

renovation of main bathroom

We clicked with Jeff immediately. Personable & honest: he conveyed a mix of confidence and concern( in a good way)

We are relatively new to the renovation scene and had a very unpleasant experience with our first bathroom reno ( Opal Baths)
I was terrified about having any more work done- but having found Homestars- began my search in earnest.

Jeff was very collaborative( I wanted a specific tile for the shower and we went to more than one place to find it)It is good when a contractor doesn't feel 'beholden' to once source. Having said that- we looked to Jeff for products that were proven- and went with his suggestions for almost everything else.(Accessories stayed in my domain)
Anyway, renovation is about the quality of work, not just selling a product.Employee Chris P. came into our home , and I can say without hesitation: wow! what a workhorse. He was here to get his hands dirty: not chat on the phone - or be driven by long breaks and lunchhours. He is a tall man and ripping out the ugly, outdated originals of this room must have seemed claustrophobic at times. But his strength was matched with his innate common sense: I liked the fact he was a problem solver- rather than ," oh well, we've got a schedule, let's just get this done " kind of attitude. He was also unfailingly pleasant and had a wonderful sense of humour. The other Chris,Jeff's son- also came in on a supervisory capacity and was wonderful to work with as well.
The entire project took almost three weeks -and it shows! The room is just simply gorgeous. It is no surprise to me that Jeff scoops up accolades from his clients and peers. He is very protective of his reputation in an industry that sometimes has no sense of history. I also know that if a problem crops up down the road ( and in this case that is very unlikely) - Jeff will be honourable: he truly cares about the client long after the cheque has been cashed.

Concrete Garage Ramp

Jeffrey Roberts and Associates built a concrete ramp to my garage - a project 4 years in the waiting after the City and a neighbor argued about the title. Finally the title was cleared, JR & A bid on the job and still the neighbor interfered with the building of the ramp which needed to be amalgamated with their ramp (which encroached onto the City Lane). Jeffrey continued to follow up by phone and once it was clear that the neighbor had no legal right to interfere, Jeffrey and his crew worked swiftly to install the ramp and dealt with the cranky and obstructionist neighbor in a matter of fact and assertive manner, knowing all was above board and to code and with the approval of the City. The JR & A employees were respectful and hard-working and did a fine job. I would hire the team again, without a doubt.

Total remodel of upstairs of a house

I was moving into a house which needed a lot of work and was recommended by a friend to speak with Jeff Roberts, owner of J. Roberts and Associates. He met with me very soon after we spoke on the phone and he knew exactly what needed to be done and how to get it done in a very narrow time line. He is incredibly knowledgeable and has the experience to get the right people to do the work. Once the work had started it progressed very fast. There was no waiting around for workers to show up. They were prompt, efficient, polite and extremely capable. Any questions I had were always answered. Jeff was there every day to check on progress and make sure I was happy. He counseled me on priorities and how to stay within budget. Only 8 weeks later and I now have a new upstairs to my house. He has managed to accomplish an inspiring total remodel with a vaulted bedroom ceiling, remodeling of the two other bedrooms, a complete remodel of the bathroom, customized cupboard doors, crown moulding and new baseboards, new windows, spray foam insulation, a repaired chimney and repairs to brickwork, upgraded electrical and plumbing, installation of new carpeting and new cupboards installed. Not only that, he dismantled an old garage, arranged for a new shed and built a fence. The speed at which he did all of this was incredible and all the while maintaining exceptional quality. I could not be more pleased. It has been a very positive experience and I plan to go on to phase 2 (the main floor) in the spring. I heartily recommend J. Roberts & Associates. He has become not only a trusted contractor but also a friend. I consider myself very lucky to have found him.

Basement Renovation

I had started a renovation in my basement expecting to complete it myself. Once I gutted the room, I realized that it was a much larger job than expected. The basement was in really rough shape, however, it is a hundred year old house. I received a recommendation to call Jeff and am I glad I did. Jeff and his crew were hired to level the basement floor and drywall, I would complete the remaining items myself. The teams for the two segments of the project were very professional. Scott did an amazing job of the concrete. I was able to lay my vinyl plank flooring with ease. Mitch and Kim who did the drywall were awesome. Even though we had to push the job a day, they still got the work done within the scheduled time. Based on the original condition of the basement and what both teams had to work with, I'm amazed it's turned out so well. It is like an entirely different room and we love it!! I would definitely hire Jeff again. The work that was done was excellent and made my life a whole lot easier.

Second storey deck replacement/ground paving stones

Found Jeffrey through Renomark. Jeffrey and his crew are a dream team. Work went according to reasonable estimate, on schedule, with full clean up each day. Neighbourly negotiations conducted admirably by all team members. All team members independent problem solvers with creative solutions. All team members very hard workers. Jeffrey was superbly well organized, calm and on location. He listened, responded and remembered. Very knowledgeable. Crew craftsmanship wonderful in all areas. Fine design and fine design touches. This was not only a no stress renovation - it was a pleasure!

Thanks to Jeffrey, Brian, Ben, Chris, Chris, Mark and the rest of the very large team.
