We had Jim Trombly Plumbing and Heating install a sump pump in our basement since it is an older basement (that sometimes takes on a bit of water). The guy who came showed up with a kid who looked no more then 16 (the guy called him an apprentace). The installer then proceeds to install piping that wasn't hard pipe (PVC)! He used cheap flexible house that will never stand the test of time. He then didn't even fasten it to the wood floor beams above. Part of the pipe just rested on the concrete floor. Needless-to-say that it wasn't long until a hold formed in the pipe. He also installed the sump pump on small rocks that were from the ground that was dug (not on a raised platform that would still allow it to stand in the water). The result was premature failure of the pump due to the small rocks clogging it up. After a few complaints, they sent someone else out and the guy was floored that the original installer used flexible pipe. At that point, it was too late to try and swap it out with PVC. They should have known better instead of trying to cut corners. There are many other plumbers in the area. You don't have to put up with service like this. I would try elsewhere first.
