This is a condensed version of what occurred. We had a disastrous move with Hudson when we moved from Toronto to Dartmouth, NS in December 2020. We had engaged Hudson after reviewing many other companies. To begin, they subcontracted our move to a mover from Mayflower, who was a broker. He hired one guy to help him move our stuff from our home. During the move in Toronto, the main guy (Darren) did not wear a mask while his helper did. We just avoided him as we wanted the work completed due to our time constraints. Fast forward a few days later when he arrives in Nova Scotia to our apartment. When Darren arrived in Nova Scotia, he was informed by the building management that he would not be permitted in the building as he was required to quarantine. The original plan was for Darren to just transport the goods to Nova Scotia and hire local workers to unload the truck to our suite. Both Darren and the one local helper he did hire absolutely refused to wear a mask, despite pleading from our relatives on site (we were in transit at the time and not present). Although its hard to conceive this was actually happening, the final result was Darren and his helper just sat in the truck for about 2.5 hours and then finally left the site without unloading anything. They took our stuff to a warehouse in Dartmouth. We had to wait another four days for a local mover to deliver our goods which they initially invoiced us an additional 2000.00 (after much pleading from us, they reduced it to around 1300.00). The local mover had four workers, who wore the required face masks during the move in and did a good job. We're really disappointed by the behavior of Darren and the way we were treated by Hudson. To add insult to injury, we even bought lunch for Darren and his helper (in Toronto) and tipped them 20.00 each. In addition, there were a few items soiled and damaged in the move and we're currently trying to get those remedied by Hudson. Overall, based on this experience, we would not recommend Hudson and if Darren shows up to your place in a Mayflower truck send him packing.
