Long Distance Move

Wonderful professional movers. They took great care with our expensive artwork and we're on time picking our stuff up and delivering. The dispatch team did a great job too! I would recommend GCVL to anyone who needs a mover!

Move from Vancouver to toronto

Great Canadian moved us from Vancouver to Toronto in September 2016. we hired them
For packing, disassembling , moving , storing to assembling, unpacking . But when our stuff came in first week of September, all my furniture was messed up. They lost all my furniture hardware, damaged my furniture and half of the boxes were missing along with other furniture . Now after sending them two legal notices , and trying to claim from INSURANCE WE bought from them, they are offering us peanuts and not trying to resolve the issue. I don't recommend anyone their services.

Company Response

It was unfortunate that three of your boxes went missing and if they do turn up they will be returned but you have been compensated for them.
A Furniture Medic was sent out to your residence to put together your bed which was missing some bolts. You refused him access into your home to do this as you wanted Restoration Hardware bolts and not bolts purchased from another supplier. The repair agent advised you that the bolts would to the exact same job no matter where they were purchased.
When some of your items were delayed being delivered GCVL advised you to purchase mandatory items needed. You submitted receipts for a total of $3183.00 when only $402.00 were actual items.
There were no legal notices sent and we have dealt with all of your concerns.
Thank you,

Long distance moving & storage

A great company to deal with. Kathy who always got back promptly to me with answers helped and reassured me through this very stressful move. The driver, the packing and delivery crew were efficient and a cheerful bunch of people. I would use them anytime.

Trans Canada Move

I've heard so many horror stories about moving companies. However, I was very lucky to find a very professional moving company who prided itself in doing a good job from start to finish. I highly recommend GREAT Canadian Van Lines to
anyone contemplating a big move.

Good reliable moving company

Overall, a great experience with GCVL- we moved from one province to another. They used blankets to wrap up everything, and they ensured everything arrived safely. Good communication with the driver- Amar- he arrived exactly when he said he would arrive. Would recommend to friends/families, and would use this company again for our next move.

Service

We had been recommended by friends to use Great Canadian Van Lines and were thrilled with the service we received upon requesting the initial quote to the staff coming to pack and transport all our belongings to our new home.

I would highly recommend Great Canadian Van lines as they were very professional and prompt and would not hesitate to refer them to others that I know that are moving in the future.

Worst moving experience

Pack was quick and seemingly efficient. Unpack was disastrous and items were damaged. We were told a full unpack would be done but when this didn't happen we were informed by the moving agent that she had misunderstood our needs. Today we discovered our king mattress had been ripped, we were not advised of the damage. Very disappointing experience.

$19,000.00

Vancouver to Toronto - Great Move

I chose this company because of their great reviews online. The day before the move, Bill, the driver and mover, called and confirmed parking availability, what items I'd be bringing and the time he'd arrive. Bill and Adlore arrived on time and did such an amazing job of confirming what items were going/staying and they took great care in packing and wrapping the furniture. I even learned some neat tricks about packing tape from them!

They picked everything up on a Saturday and arrived in Toronto the following Saturday! They kept in contact with my husband on the receiving end and everything went smoothly. All items arrived and in the same condition as they were sent. No damage at all.

Really great service from Bill and Adlore.

Late deliver, terrible driver

Scheduled a move from Toronto to Vancouver on July 19th. Movers showed up on time. Moved all my stuff with care. But after that, everything was terrible. No communication at all coming from them, I had to follow up by myself to check where my stuff was. Finally got a call from the driver one day prior to the last transit day they promised, just to be informed it would be delayed again. When I confronted the driver, he told me with attitude that he was only 1 day late! Communication with the company was painful. I paid in advance which I should have never done. Right after my payment, I was treated as garbage. Driver threatened my building management office when the availability of elevator wouldn't fit his schedule, used cursing words on my girlfriend, and always always came up with excuses and L I E S to appear he was innocent that it was all other people's faults. Complained to the company about the driver and late delivery, no followup from them after that. They also took my own moving blanket on the coffee table which I packed myself. It was clearly written on the sheet that it was owner packed. Again, when I asked the driver, he started giving me excuses, only when I explicitly asked him whether or not he read the item sheet, he then admitted it was his fault and said "no, I didn't read it" without even being sorry. This is not the service I paid for. I didn't even ask for a refund, just a simple apology to me and my gf apparently was still too much to ask from them. Remember the driver's name: Steve, avoid him or better off, avoid this company. I'm talking to my lawyer if I don't hear back from them. This issue now got really personal. The building manager and her assistant were the witnesses of the whole disaster. I got the recording from the security cameras to show how he behaved in the lobby. I have plenty of resource to back me up. I want to see how the driver quibbles in front of the witnesses and evidence.

Company Response

Hi TJ,

Thank you for your input. This driver is a new driver for our Edmonton agent Provincial Moving & Storage. We have forwarded your complaint to Steve's manager Gary Saran in Edmonton.
Unfortunately your building manager told your estimator Rick that your building had tractor trailer access. When Steve arrived he found out there was no access and he ended up getting an expensive parking ticket which he had to pay. This however is not an excuse for his misconduct.
I understand our Customer Service talked to you on the day of delivery and gave you financial compensation and apologized for Steve's misconduct.

Thank you,
