Basement crack

Spoke to Matt and Ken on two different occasions, they identified the crack and gave me a quick estimate, to repair from inside or outside. Very professional, and I am completely satisfied with their work. It rained like crazy the weeks following the repair and not a single drop of water.
I will use their service in a heartbeat and will highly recommend them.

Sealed crack in my basement

Gord's Basement Waterproofing is a small family business. I felt confident in their experience & expertise that my basement, which showed two very small cracks in the inside wall, needed only for those cracks to be filled with a caulk-like filler, not some major piece of renovation work. The work was done last fall, and I waited to see what would happen to post a review. Last week there was a record 100+ cm of rain in the GTA. My basement: dry as can be. Not even a hint of moisture appeared anywhere near those cracks. I am very, very satisfied.

One house fixed from outside and Rod Plug repair on a different house

Had a crack in my foundation and Gord's was recommended by a friend. Came out next day provided a quote and was able to do the job a few days later. Got the crack fixed from the outside few days The guy (Shane) came when promised, dug the hole with just a spade in less than 2 hours (thru clay... unbelievable I was expecting construction equipment, saw the hole 4'x2' all the way down 7' to the bottom of the wall). Fixed the wall and put the area back to the way he found out as best as he could. Used them a few months later on a rental property to fix a couple of rod holes, guy was there a couple on minutes early came in tested all the holes only found one problem and fixed it. With all the dealings I have found Gords extremely professional, friendly and very honest. They have also fixed a problem in my parents house a couple of weeks ago and they also were very happy with them. I would and have recommend them.

Basement Waterproofing

Consider these words very carefully … get another quote.

Our basement was “waterproofed” last Aug. this spring it leaked, called Gord’s and they did patch a section of the basement wall – repairing their previous work. The basement leaked again, called Gord’s got no real answers. Nice guys but I wanted answers.

Called in a plumbing company with a video scope … weeping tile attached to NOTHING. The basement would always be wet because the drain was not attached.

Total bill $10,000 plus.

Seriously get another quote.

Company Response

I find it very interesting that someone who has never recieved a quote from us is recommending that people get another quote. The person who wrote this reveiw had our warranty transfered over to him by the previous homeowners and thus was not present during the estimate or subsequent job. The job consisted of waterproofing the block foundation and seal plate of a crawl space (approx. 35 ft.). It was clearly explained to the original owner that there could be a problem with the weeping tile and we would replace it within the 35ft. section where we were waterproofing the walls but if the rest of the weeping tile was clogged there would be additional work required. After excavation was completed and the condition of the weeping tile confimed to be inadequate this point was again reiterated with the original home owner. The owner had no interest in doing the additional work to correct the weeping tile so no quote was given. She recieved a 25 year tranferable warranty on the walls and seal plate. There was a problem reported to us by the new home owner with water entering the crawl space under the door seal. As this was covered under warranty we dispatched a service man promptly who corrected the problem. A few weeks after this we were contacted by the genetlemen in question complaing about water coming in from the floor level. I personal told him that there was an issue with the weeping tile and additional work would be required to correct the problem. I gave him two options: 1)continue the replacement of weeping tile out to the street or 2) Install a sump pump in the crawl space to tap the 35ft of weeping tile which were already replaced into. He seemed more concerned with getting us to dig up the original area that we had waterproofed ( which would have solved nothing) then actually getting a quote from us to fix the problem. We then had Gord and a workman come out on a weekend to dig out a section just to prove to him that we had replaced the weeping tile in the area where we had worked and show him the problem with the weeping tile in the area where we had not. He must have understood because upon arrival he declined to have us excavate. It is obvious that he got his answers, additional work was needed in order to correct the drainage for the weeping tile. The genetleman in question seemed more concerned with getting us to solve the problem for free or getting the previous home owner to pay for the work then actually getting a quote to repair the problem. It is a unfortunate situation that the original homeowner left him. I'm glad that he had the weeping tile issue corrected but as of date he has neither recieved of requested a quote for the additional work required. Our policy on weeping tile is clearly explained at the time of the quote. As this person was not the home owner and thus not present when the quote wss given he was obviously not aware of the possibilty that additional work may be required. This is the first "complaint" that the company has had in a almost 30 years of service but considering the circumstances there was not much more that we could have done. We provide quality service and workmanship backed by a 25 year written warranty. I have hundreds of references avaliable upon request. Call for your free estimate today!
Sincerely,
Matthew Peace
