New Home - windows by Decora

Never ever use this company! I have read all the comments below and agree with all of them 100% except the two that gave a 10 - they must work for the company. This company, like century grove the builder are shocking. Within 2 years we have seen 12 windows whose seals have failed and we have visible permanent condensation as a result. All of the exterior trim has faded to white from a beige/taupe colour Miraculously there is only a 1 year warranty for the windows!!! 1 year are you kidding me and the section is "under construction" on their website - that is your 1st clue. Their customer non service is legendary and their "technicians" are rude, inconsiderate and useless at best. I refered them to Tarion to get them to help me out but they wont even respond to them! I can not understand how this company is in business - I suspect it is by supplying disposable windows to the large builders. Avoid them like the plague - Anyone know of a good company who can swap out 12 sealed units?

New windows on New house, and replace windows on old house

We ordered replacement windows on a 30 year old house. First visit they brought the wrong size windows. Second visit they broght the right size, but wrong type of window in the dining room (its still there - now waiting for them to correct this error for 7 months). They sent the wrong screens (none of them fit any windows). We are still waiting for screens on the windows that have been installed. The fron door that they replaced is still not adjusted to have it close properly.
On the new house we are building, two of the new window leak, there have been several visits by "technicians" (highly doubtful these guys are technicians of any kind -and still no resolution. Any of the doors by Decora that have been installed are inferior quality, poorly installed and none of them line up. I will NEVER recommend this company, and tell everyone I know to steer clear of them. And their customer service sucks after they get paid. Maybe that's why they want their payments up front. I don't believe they have any intention of honouring their warranty. Buying from this company was a huge mistake and I entirely regret it.

All windows in newly built home

Our new home was built with Decora windows in 2003/2004. The casement style windows were tolerable, but all of the sliders were extremely poor in build quality. All leaked significant amounts of air where the two panes met in the middle of the window. The one in our living room was so bad that on a windy day the breeze could blow out a match placed near it. During winter there was always a ridiculous amount off ice on the interior of the windows, despite keeping the humidity levels in the house very low. We also had several double panes lose their seal over the span of five years.
As for the service, it was a joke. For the living room window that leaked so badly, their solution was to stick a piece of cardboard under the track that the windows sits in to raise it higher. Not only did this not work, it left us with a black mould-ridden piece of goo in the window that I only discovered because I did some spring maintenance/cleaning.

In the end, the builder stopped using Decora and moved another manufacturer because of all the issues the Decora windows had. In our case, the builder replaced the worst of our windows with a different brand that were of significantly better quality.

If you builder is using Decora windows, either pay to have them use a reputable brand, or find a different builder. Otherwise, you'll be looking at buying new windows in less than 10 years.

windows and doors

We were referred by a friend. Saleman called and came over to price the project. We were happy with the price and the choices that were offered. We were looking for a patio door but had a hard time deciding whether to go with a sliding door or a french door. Mark was very knowledgeable and helped us make the decision.

Overall our experience was very positive.
Service is good, price is reasonable, good selection, quick installation. We were introduced to low e and argon package and thoroughly educated on the subject. Marketing material was very helpful and helped us make our selection.

Window and Door

I cannot comment on the price as the Builder of my new home has contracted Decora to do the windows and doors on our project. The window does not come with the small white caps which cover/go over the exposed screws. This is apparently are not included!

When I enquired with the Decora serviceman (his first visit to measure the window) as to why such a small and inexpensive part does not come with it, I was told to talk to my builder. They do not have any!

When the Decora installer/repairman returned to install the frame which was damaged before I took possession, I asked if it was possible to buy them since they were not included.

He thought that my simple request was unreasonable and cursed at me and left.

I guess asking for the small nuts that hold my wheels on the car is too much to ask.

Perhaps this company specializes with low prices to builders, and has no consideration for the end consumer and professional customer service... Too bad. If I did my job this way, I would be fired and the company would go bankrupt!

Great first impression. I will now search elsewhere for my future upgrade on this website....(THANK YOU HOMESTARS fOR THIS GREAT RESOURCE!)
