AC repair

Fred came and did everything he could to fix my ac. It was the hottest time of the year and he explained everything he was going to do and came on time and on budget. It is nice to work with someone who is willing to ensure proper service. I would not hesitate to recommend Fred to anyone needing assistance. Honest and reliable!

A/C installation

After 10 days of suffering in this intense heat,my A/C is running smoothly again thanks to Cozy World and Fred & his colleague.
Boris who came up on Thursday was polite, knowledgeable,& informative. Today,it was a painless procedure. They were quiet, cleaned up the waste & most importasnt, knew their job. It was raining heavily but they continued on with the help of my patio umbrella.
They took out the 30 year old A/C unit & installed the new one. Their price was $1000 cheaper than Direct Energy whom I had aquote from last a few weeks ago. I have the extra warrenty for 10 years for a few hundred dollars.
I would recommend them to any of my friends or family. Now I can put the fans away. Thanks Cozy World.

Installation of AC + Furnace

I had my old furnace and AC replaced for my end unit town home. I have nothing but great things to say regarding to Boris, Kam and the cozy world team. I will list the items in point form for easy reading ;)

1. Initial estimate: Boris came by very quick to give a proper estimate. My unit is very challenging installation wise because the entire basement level is furnished! The challenge is to install a new pipe out of the house for exhaust purposes. Boris looked at the entire setup carefully, and he was very patient to explain all questions that I have. In the end, Boris wanted his chief installer (Kam) to come by the week after to make sure the installation is doable.
Kam came by early next week. He spend quite a bit of time looking at everything, poking and looking, and confidently decided that the installation was doable.
Also, both Boris and Kam recommended just want I need without overselling. The price quote that I got was very competitive.
I have other companies over, with claims that "yes, it is doable without even looking" to "no, it is not doable unless we poke 3 holes in your finished ceiling".

2. Email responses before commitment: Boris is very responsive to all my requests via email. I work in the computer industry, and personally I prefer to use email for communication. Boris is very accommodating.

3. Installation date: Once committed with the installation, Kam and the crew arrived on time. They worked diligently through the day, only taking 1/2 on a quick lunch. A few additional things that I noted during the installation day:
a. Craftsmanship is excellent. I talked to Kam about some install where duct tapes are used liberally all over the place. Kam told me that is not the correct way of using duct tape, as it should be used only for joints.
b. I have many questions for Kam during the day, and he took the time to explain all of them to me patiently.
c. In my old setup, I used to have a mess of small water pipes coming off from the main pipe. Kam cleaned up all the mess, and it is very neat and tidy. Less water connections = less chance of leaks ;)
d. BIG ONE: For AC install, my old install used to hang off the side of the house, on a metal platform. Under the platform is some hedges. Kam came by and advised me that it is better to have the AC sit on the ground rather than hanging off the side of the house, as the vibration can transfer to the house. But to do that, they have to remove the hedges, plus build a concrete platform for the AC. They did ALL of these, and made sure the concrete platform is built such that it will not slope out. I was very impressed with the work, as I would imagine most of the company will just reuse the overhung platform for the AC installation.
e. the crew were very tidy, and they even asked me for a vacuum when they removed the old furnace, to vacuum out the gunks which were not accessible when the furnace was in place. They had runners throughout the access path, and they cleaned up very well after the installation.
f. Boris (owner) came by in the morning of installation, to make sure everything was ok. Nice personal touch.
g. the extra exhaust vent needed was put in with NO need to open additional holes in the ceiling. My wife was very happy with this ;)
h. After everything was installed, Kam walk me through the entire setup, give me tips on setting up the new thermostat and about keeping the DC motor running all the time to help circulation.
i. The work was very professional, with everything tested to make sure the system runs at 100%

Day after installation:
1. Boris email me again to follow up and make sure the install was perfect, which it was.
2. The heating and cooling rebate was processed right away.

Overall:
Very satisfied with the install and the crew. I am sure the system will give me years of excellent services, and I am sure that Boris and his team will stand behind the product if needed.

Approximate cost of services:
$6,400.00
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
Pay attention to after installation services and warranties, as mechanical equipment do fail once in a while.

New furnace installation

This was awhile ago and I meant to write a review here, but forgot. We had a furnace installed in January 2010. I found Boris on HomeStars and he came to quote us on a new furnace. I also got 3 other quotes. Boris came in slightly cheaper than the others (for the same equipment) but it was his professional attitude that sold us.

He did the sales work and then a crew of great guys came in to remove our old furnace and install the new one. They did it in a day and stayed late to finish it. They were super clean, took away the old furnace and left the basement area all good. They even patched up a totally unrelated hole in our wall.

We had an issue with the electrical switch (that was due to our old house, and was not related to their work) and the installer returned very early the next morning with tools to fix the switch. He also created a new hole in the adjoining room for a new intake vent (again, not a part of our original quote or work plan), brought the vent cover from HOme Depot and closed it all up, which helped the efficiency of the furnace. This was way above and beyond.

Boris followed up on all the work, applied for an ONtario energy rebate on our behalf and was just generally a good person to work with.

No hesitation to recommend Boris and his installers at Cozy World.

Repair of coolant line to a Goodman air conditioner.

After an expensive, unsatisfactory repair estimate from the company that installed our A/C unit, I spoke to Fred at Cozy World. He arrived on schedule, quickly diagnosed a faulty brazed connection and completed the repair for a fraction of the other company's estimate. He was pleasant to deal with and thoroughly explained both the problem and the work needed to fix it. We'd recommend him for A/C work and plan to have him service our furnace rather than the company that installed it.

Furnace and air conditioner installation

Cozy World installed a new furnace for me back in March. I was very impressed by their work and professionalism and therefore I had them back recently when my air conditioner failed. As a first time homeowner, these large purchase decisions can be daunting. In both cases, Boris spent a considerable amount of time with me discussing the options and answering my questions. I was given a written estimate that matched the final invoice. Fred and the installation team arrived on time, were very professional and ensured I was happy with the final product. I have nothing but positive things to say about Cozy World.

Air Conditioner Repair

My Goodman A/C , which is only going into it's 2nd full season, suddenly stopped working in June. The company that installed the A/C and was servicing it, suddenly seemed to have disappeared. Messages were not returned. We have allergies and asthma in our house so it is crucial to have working A/C. I have used homestars.ca in the past to find reputable service and this is how I found Cozy World. They put me in touch with Fred for the repair. Fred took my cell number and promised to try to make it to my house the same evening or at the latest the next morning. He then called me later that afternoon to confirm that he would be able to meet me at my house around 6pm. When I was on my way home, he called again to let me know that he would be there in half an hour. Fred arrived and fairly quickly determined that the problem was no power to A/C. It turned out that some wires got disconnected in the yard, probably due to some animals. He patched up the wires and stayed to make sure that the unit was cooling properly. Fred was very professional and very thorough. I highly recommend Fred and Cozy World. And I highly recomment homestars.ca to find reputable companies to deal with.

A/C and Humidifier Installation

I contacted Boris about an A/C and humidifier installation after reading about all of the great reviews. He provided me with a quote the same day and I was able to arrange for an installation on the hottest day of the year. His crew was knowledgeable and worked efficiently. The running of the pipes and electrical was neat and tidy that even my wife noticed. They also respected the house, lined the carpet to the basement with a carpet runner, and cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. All of my questions were answered and I was very happy with the professional installation.
