Clarke Basement Systems

Wow! We are so impressed with Clarke Basement Systems! Our basement was a huge undertaking but our foremen Rob and Graham completed the strenuous task with such ease, precision, professionalism and congeniality. They removed all of the attached wallboards and attached shelves and dumped it for us. Then they speedily started the huge undertaking of jackhammering and removing all the heavy cement and debris. This heavy removal was completed in record time with organized cleanup after each step! Rob and Graham with the help of Dave and Keith did a wonderful job! Our basement was leaking underneath with hydrostatic pressure plus leaked through the exterior walls whenever there was rain. The lake floods in the spring and causes added problems. It had been an increasing problem with the resulting constant battle with portable sump pumps and sandbags outside in the spring. When Rob and Graham drilled the hole for one of the sump pumps, they discovered the static water level to be just underneath floor level! They were so reassuring that it wasn't an alarming situation as the drainage system would readily handle all this water!! Each morning Rob would cheerily greet us and ask if we had questions and took as much time as we needed to discuss the project and answers any and all questions we had. My husband, Bob asks A LOT of questions too, but Rob was totally congenial and caring with our home project. They spent time levelling the waterguards so they would drain to the pumps and then tidily put gravel into the trenches, finishing up with cement on top. The result is a smooth and tidy surface. The whitewall looks so nice and brightens up our basement as well as the functionality of keeping the moisture out.
We decided to leave the area for the trench drain open at the basement door so they can return when the spring thaw is over. That way they can dig up the outside of our basement door and install a drain which will access a trench drain inside the door. They will also be building a 'berm' or 'wall' to help protect the door from the high lake levels we deal with in the spring. They will be placing the exterior drain pipe underground at that time also.

Claude Mathieu was an excellent representative upon first contact with the Clarke Basement Systems company. He was always available to visit us to explain things before we made the decision to go ahead. He drew up the plan and took alot of time making sure we understood the workings of the system. He answered all Bob's questions in a very understanding manner. He was very accessible during the project as well, which we appreciated.

The test!!!! We had a torrential downpour last weekend just after the work was completed. There wasn't a drop of moisture entering our basement!!!! It works!! There have been doubters when we explained the process we were doing in our home, but we can now show them that this system works and would highly recommend it to others.

We live in a very low area of the Trent-Severn Water System which often floods in the spring when the locks are NOT closed. The water from Lake Couchiching floods Severn River and Sparrow Lake which wrecks havoc with homeowners in our area. If anyone asks, I will suggest a call to you.

Now, it is March 10th and the rains are just starting! I feel so happy to walk downstairs and see a dry floor:)

I thought the water leak was from the foundation which was not the case but from a blown water hose pipe not turned off during winter by the sellers. I contacted Roy Warren at Clarke Basement System and he immediately came and assessed my basement to be fine with a moisture meter which none of the big name contractors did. Roy was very approachable, helpful and honest and said nothing was wrong with my basement. I definitely will recommend to others.

The project was extensive for us but fairly straight forward for them. A large part of the basement was to be lowered, a waterproofing system installed including a sump system (even helped us claim the rebate for the sump). From the first day we met Jose Martinez the Forman and the guys Rob T. and Gram G.,I felt comfortable with them and their abilities. The entire team was extremely friendly and professional. Jose kept me informed of progress and always made sure the work had as little impact on the rest of the house as possible by keeping thing tidy and asking before doing work outside normal hours. They even helped me take down some old pipes, an abandoned drain stack and helped moved some of the renovation rubbish to the bin. The entire job is extremely well done and was completed in a timely manner as promised. Jose, Rob and Gram made this experience for both my wife and I a real pleasure.

But it wasn’t perfect; we did have issues with the main office on a few occasions. The reason we are giving Clarke Basement Systems such a high rating was due to Jose; he truly went above and beyond the call of duty in fixing any and all issues on behalf of my wife and I. My husband and I purchased our first home last summer. The basement in the century-old house had been newly finished by the previous owner, who failed to complete the job by installing a sump pump on top of the basin (but water was draining in!). Eager to complete the job properly, and protect our investment, we called Clarke Basement Solutions to help us out.
Claude Mathieu came to our home during the evening, a time which was convenient for my husband and me. He examined our situation and explained our options. Claude was incredibly knowledgeable and professional, and did not shy away from crawling under our deck to examine where the discharge line would go. When Claude mentioned Clarke also specialized in crawl spaces we thought we could kill two birds with one stone. Our home had a crawlspace, but the access had been sealed off and was inconveniently located behind the washer and dryer. We didn’t know what we were going to find, but Claude helped us gain access to the space and provided us with the information on how we could make it clean and safe, and ultimately save money on home heating costs.
Rob, Jose, and Dave came to our home to complete the work – install the CleanSpace Encapsulation System, SmartJack System, and the TripleSafe Water Removal System. I did not envy the work they were tasked to do, but was amazed at how professional, experienced, and knowledgeable they were. They were friendly and did not mind showing us what they had done, and explained to us the things we needed to know and how everything worked.
We’ve had a few experiences with home improvement projects and by far, this was the best. The whole process was seamless and we felt comfortable at each step of the way. We now have a warm and stable kitchen floor, savings in our energy bills, a clean and safe crawlspace, and piece of mind that we’ll have a dry basement.

I can't say enough about how pleased I am with Clarke Basements! We were in panic mode when we discovered cracks throughout our 20-year-old block foundation-- and water seeping in with every rainfall. We had just completed mold remediation. Now it was time to solve the problem so our children would never be exposed to harmful mold again. Ryan and then Don came on separate visits to explain the interior drain system and answer our questions---- LOTS of questions. The idea of installing a drain system around the INSIDE of our basement seemed unorthodox at first. However, the guys at Clarke Basement addressed every concern. Not with a sales pitch or false promises. With facts and photos and logic and complete confidence in the effectiveness of their product. I remember at one point beginning a question with "Now, if water ever does get into the basement in the future..." and Don immediately stopped me and said "It won't." Once we decided to go with Clarke, the work was started right on time. It took four days exactly as promised. Rob and Nole worked tirelessly and Rob is seriously the most cheerful, positive guy you will ever meet! It was a joy to have him in our home. The work was performed in a manner that clearly shows the crew were perfectionists. And best of all--- IT WORKS! That funny smell to which we had grown accustomed in our basement is gone. The moisture is gone. The puddle of water in that one corner will never show its face again. Don even came again, at my request, and met with the contractor rebuilding our basement to ensure that they understood how to preserve the integrity of the system while rebuilding all the walls and re-tiling the perimeter (and while he was here, he made sure my hoses were properly shut off for the winter sub-zero temps upon us. That's just how he is). Clarke Basements gave me peace of mind in a situation that, six months ago, I thought would never be resolved. I am 100% certain that our basement will remain dry. Ok, so stop worrying and stop researching now and just call them!

The crew were fantastic. Professional and courteous, they did a very clean job. The method used to seal the cracks does look bulletproof. I have no hesitation recommending Clarke Basement Systems, they are as good as they say.

Rob and his helper have just left after two days' hard work. His advice and commitment to solving a very difficult problem were extremely professional and the job was carried out with courtesy and cheerfullness. Mess and disruption were minimal and we look forward to a good night's sleep! We would not hesitate to recommend Clarke Basements to our friends.

The gentleman from Clarke showed up exactly on time bright and early, looked at the basement and immediately concluded that I dont have a moisture issue. He suggested that there might be a plumbing issue somewhere in the house, I was a little baffled, he even recommended I buy ph sticks and test the water for chlorine to determine if it was tap water. He went through his entire reasoning for his analysis of the problem and gave me more detail and technical information than I would expect, this was a stark contrast to a previous estimator that recommended that I should grade the outside of the house, put concrete etc etc. Long and short of it, it did turn out be a problem with a plumbing drain and was able to get it resolved by a plumbing company a few days later. I thank Clarke basements for being honest and diagnosing the correct remediation, if I ever have issues again with any moisture or waterproofing, you can bet that this is the only company I would contact.

It was so refreshing to meet Rob, he is so assertive my husband and i are so pleased with the work he did, although it is only about half an hour ago he finshed , we have no doubt our basement will never leake at that spot ever. Just looking at the workanship it is so neat and clean.Thank you so very much Rob and God bless you all.

This is the second time I've used Clarke basement. This time I was having some water drainage issues in my basement. And once again the workers were very helpful and professional and did a great job. I just wanted to let other people know how pleased I am with the work that was done.
