3 Bathroom Renovations

I'm sorry but the reviews posted for Charlie and Caroline must have been done by family and friends because they did a terrible job on our home. I found Charlie and Caroline through this same site because of the reviews they received and we are deeply dissatisfied with their both the quality of their work and their customer service.

We planned to do complete renovations on our home back in 2009 and we called Caroline back in October 2009 to do 3 bathroom renovations to start and to date, they still have not yet finished.

They rescheduled many many appointments and were always late or cancelled last minute while we sat at home during weekdays waiting for Caroline or Charlie and his crew to arrive. It took months to order our materials and even longer for someone to come and do the work. It took well over a year to finish the bulk of the work and we are embarassed with the results.

After the last payment was received, they never came back and to date:
- the painting is incomplete, only one sloppy coat was done
- the main floor bathroom mirror was neither purchased or hung
- towel bars and toilet paper holders were either loosely installed or are still sitting on the floor waiting to be installed
- bathroom sconces are still hanging loosely

Not only did they waste over a year of our time but it will be now costing us more to re-do our bathrooms.

Please feel free to contact me if you have further questions or would like to see the terrible job they did on our bathrooms. We wouldn't want anyone else going through the same misfortune.

Company Response

In response to Sid's review, we feel it necessary to give our side of this story, as we feel his comments completely untrue and inaccurate.

The project did, as Sid states, have many delays, however, not because of lack of organization or mis-scheduling of our crew's time.
In an effort avoid inconveniences to the client and his family, we took time at the beginning of the project, prior to demolition, to ensure all the materials requiring lengthly leadtimes ie specialty stones and vanities coming from out of country, were ordered and delivered. We are not denying this didn't take some time, however, this was clearly conveyed to the client, and approved by him.

As the project progressed, interim payments were required, as outlined in our contract with the client. Sid’s continual failure to make these payments on time delayed the project, despite many attempts to contact the client who traveled out of country for several weeks at a time, without notice to our team.

In response to his assaulting our quality of work, we encourage you to take a look at our photo gallery to the photos marked “Sid’s Project”. You can easily see that the esthetic of his chosen stone is much different than our typical selections, however, the quality of the tiling and installation is there, as always with our work.

As a company, we take pride in our customer service, our honesty and our ability to help our clients make wise design choices that suite their home and family’s needs. Our previous reviews from our past clients are a true reflection of our quality of workmanship and our customer service.

Major renovations

My husband and I bought a house built in 1928 that was last renovated in the 70s. We needed to do major renovations to the main floor as well as replace the old knob-and-tube wiring. Charlie and his team came to our rescue! They ripped out the original floors and kitchen and replaced the tiles and wall-to-wall carpets with gleaming hardwood. They supervised the massive drywalling work that was done to patch up the holes which resulted from replacing all the wiring in the house.

We were very happy with the high level of communication between Charlie and ourselves. He was very open to our ideas/suggestions, and numerous changes along the way. In addition to the major renovations we required, Charlie was also very helpful in fixing small things around the house, like a light in the shower and installing new baseboards (and dyeing them all to our specifications!). We can't thank him enough for the beautiful house we now have the pleasure of living in!!

Please take a look at our before and after pictures for evidence of Charlie's excellent work.

Family Room Decorating, new furniture, re-upholstering, design and planning

Coxson Brown really paid attention to what I wanted out of a family room. They provided me with multiple options on layout and design and options with fabrics, etc. The room came together beautifully and we are so pleased with the final outcome. The products arrived all in one day and were assembled, placed, and hung prior to my reveal. They took care of everything!!!! We are so happy with our family room and look forward to working again with the Coxon Brown Team.

Whole house renos

I found out about Charlie Brown on this site - with a name like that I figured he was sure to be trusted! And indeed he is. Charlie was a breath of fresh air after years of bad experiences with contractors.

We, insanely, started renovations a few months after our daughter was born. Charlie rebuilt our pantry, added French doors to our backyard, refinished our garage, built a deck, installed new hardwood, removed two walls, refinished our cupboards, retiled our backsplash and got all the trim painted...I can't believe he got so much done without driving me crazy.

He was fair and professional, and very considerate to an exhausted new mom - he even had some great parenting tips to help me out! Also, he worked at our pace - giving us a breather from renos when we needed it. And he worked around our holiday schedule to do the painting and flooring while we had the baby out of town.

Charlie's workmanship is superb. His price is fair. Frankly, he's a really nice guy and easy to have around your house. But he's not finished with our house yet - so I hope this posting won't make him too busy!

New Shower

Charlie and his crew rebuilt my leaking shower from scratch - it had rotted right through. They are extremely competent and very concerned about doing the job correctly, never cutting corners. As well, they cleaned up spotlessly every day!

Finishing the basement

Charlie transformed our basement from a concrete storage room to a luxurious, comfortable recreation room including our fantastic home gym.

His workmanship, price and trustworthiness made a very large renovation very easy to live through.

We now enjoy our fabulous basement.

Put in a new wall in a bedroom to create a nursery

Charlie Brown and his crew did it again. By erecting a wall and pocket french door in a large bedroom he created a nursery for our son. He put in new lighting and contracted an electrician to provide separate heating for the room. Such a good job, it looks like the nursery was always there. We will get these guys to refinish our basement next!
Great work at a very fair price. We love these guys and would highly recommend them to anyone who needs work done.
