AC repair

I hired A1 for an air conditioning repair in April. I had a technician to my house promptly to evaluate and diagnose the issue. He quickly and efficiently found the problem. It was not fixable in the same day, but at a follow up appointment, he reconfirmed the issue and did a thorough and efficient job at replacing the unit. There were a few bumps along the way with respect to scheduling, but the owner of the company was in direct contact with me over the phone to sort out the issues. He very generously refunded a large portion of my fees to compensate me for inconveniences associated with rescheduling.

Overall, a very knowledgeable repair contractor and an owner who clearly cares about customer satisfaction. We will use them again.

AC repair

This company has serious issues with punctuality and keeping appointments. And some issues with preparations.

I called them because my A/C unit was turning on and off sporadically. They sent a technician to my house, charging an immediate diagnostic fee. Fine, no issue with that.

Technician arrives and diagnoses a low coolant issue likely a leak. He tells me has to perform a leak test. He cuts open my duct work, only to tell me that his leak tester is low on batteries, having already torn up my sheet metal. The leak tester dies. They patched up the sheet metal with a patch job with tape etc. and said they would have to reschedule for 4 days later because the device had to charge. Of course, he maintains that I give them a credit card number, and I receive an invoice for 400 dollars.

4 days later comes and I had a morning appointment. I hear nothing from the company. I call to inquire and am told the appointment was cancelled due to rain and that again, I had to reschedule.

I reschedule for 3 days after that for 4 pm. 430 pm comes and I havent heard from the company. 530 pm comes and I receive a phone call from a technician, an hour and a half after the scheduled appointment, to tell me that he is stuck at another job and guess what, he has to reschedule. Of course, he calls me after hours when their office is CLOSED, so I can't even make a reschedule appointment until the next day.

I took two days off of work for these people to have a no-show, and a 90 minute late notice of a no-show.

If I hadn't already paid a diagnostic fee to them I would 100% be using someone else. However, I am now stuck with them because I do not want to re-pay this fee to another company.

As of right now, I am extremely unsatisfied. Should they do a reasonable job or offer a refund of monies I might reconsider.

Also, its worth noting this company has a history of responding to negative reviews by saying "we have searched our database and cannot find you, we believe you have mistaken us for another company". Convenient. Just to "jog" their memories, here's a picture of the invoice.
